As Allen continued to go on about Dylan, Suzy felt the urge to kick him again. “Keep up this nonsense, and I won’t hesitate to make you mute!”
Allen rolled his eyes, then handed her the peeled apple.
Suzy took a bite. “How’s Anne’s situation?”
She hadn’t reviewed the surveillance footage lately–partly because she hadn’t had the time, and partly because there hadn’t been a need.
Allen shrugged. “Anne’s been dealing with her symptoms for days now. Helena’s asked Dylan more than once to find the miracle doctor to treat her, but he hasn’t reached out to me at all. And not only that, Helena’s even suggested to Dylan that you might be responsible for Anne’s condition, yet he’s done absolutely nothing about it…”
this, Allen couldn’t resist adding, “Boss, it’s possible he…”
Not wanting to hear another useless comment, Suzy grabbed an unpeeled apple and shoved it into his mouth.
Allen spat it out immediately, wiping his mouth. “This thing’s covered in pesticides!”
Suzy smirked. “I thought you weren’t afraid of dying.”
“Fine, I’ll tell you something you’ll like. I found the surveillance footage of the attempted assassination on Claude at the clothing store.” Allen pulled a flash drive from his pocket and handed it to her.
Suzy turned it over in her hand. “Where was it found?”
“In the trash can outside the store,” Allen said, his expression complicated. “Right after the incident, I had people search everywhere, multiple times, but we didn’t find a thing. And now, it’s just appeared out of nowhere.”
Suzy shifted, her eyes narrowing. “Who was the attacker?”
“One of the store’s employees–but they’re already dead. Someone silenced them before my people could get there.”
Suzy’s gaze sharpened. “Is Raven out of her postpartum recovery?”
“She just hit the one–month mark!”
“Ask her if she’s free to extract all fingerprints from this drive.”
“She’ll jump at the chance! She called me the other day saying she’s itching to get back to work after feeling like she’s gone to waste from having a baby.”
Suzy added, “Remind her to take it easy–she just recovered from delivering.”

With that, Allen got up and stepped out onto the balcony to slip away from there.
Using the front door would attract attention, so Allen always came and went via the balcony.
After he left, Suzy decided to catch up on some sleep. The injury might be fake, but the exhaustion was very real.
Besides, there wasn’t much else to do in the hospital, and she’d be “performing” the role of a
ent for a few more days anyway.
Right before closing her eyes, she thought about Allen’s comment–that Dylan hadn’t contacted him at all.
“With Arine suffering like that, he’s not concerned?”

If he truly didn’t care, he wouldn’t have gone to see her immediately after it all started. But why, after all this time, hadn’t he sought the miracle doctor for her treatment?
The question lingered as she drifted off to sleep.
Suzy slept deeply, dozing for hours and only waking up when it was already dark outside. Honestly, if she hadn’t needed the bathroom, she could’ve slept even longer. The past few weeks had been intense, and having a rare moment of calm felt like a gift.
After stretching, Suzy got up and headed for the restroom.
Pushing the door open, she started to unbutton her pants. She was alone, after all–no need to worry about anyone seeing her–and she was really at her limit.
But as she stepped into the restroom, pants halfway down and ready to rush to the toilet, she froze on the spot, completely stunned by the unexpected sight before her. She even forgot to pull her pants back up.
