Chapter 19
“Devoted Alpha betrays mate for first love, leads to Luna’s death!”
“Pack’s most loyal mate exposed as deceiver, now drowning in regret!”
“Protect your hearts from treacherous Alphas!”
When Adeleke and Lilliana first mated, many wolves had celebrated their bond. Those who witnessed their journey from mating to dissolution now mourned Lilliana deeply.
After news spread of her death in Ironclaw Pack, the packs turned against Adeleke, condemning his false devotion. The scandal severely impacted the Blackwood Pack’s standing.
“You’re banned from pack business for five years,” the Elder declared. “Our ancient laws demand loyalty in mating bonds. Pack harmony requires fidelity!”
Adeleke’s eyes dimmed. In five years, other wolves would surpass him, likely costing him his heir status permanently.
But without Lilliana, what worth was pack leadership?
That evening, Martyna learned of Adeleke’s punishment. She sat alone, mind racing. Her attempts to contact Axel had failed – his moon crystal went dark after visiting his pack’s den.
Unknown to her, Axel had died the day of Lilliana’s ceremony. Lilliana had sent evidence of his assassination attempts to the Vale Pack Elder, asking only for justice while maintaining her survival’s secrecy.
The Elder had summoned Axel home for punishment, but he fled in the rain, dying in a crash.
Martyna, growing desperate, decided to cling to Adeleke. Their scandal was too public – no worthy Alpha would mate her now. Even a weakened Adeleke remained pack–born.
Months later, Martyna’s pup arrived. Adeleke barely glanced at it before leaving.
“Won’t you see your heir?” she called.
His cold departure became pack gossip, but Martyna didn’t care. She’d birthed a Blackwood pup.

With Lilliana gone, her position seemed secure despite Adeleke’s indifference.
“Attend for the pup’s sake,” she begged. “Or they’ll always view your heir differently.”
Adeleke agreed reluctantly.
At the ceremony, Martyna had spread word of Adeleke’s attendance, drawing many pack members.
When Martyna began discussing pack matters as if she were Luna, Adeleke’s face darkened. “Mind your place. You have no right to speak of pack affairs publicly.”
The serving wolf in a mask approached Adeleke with a covered silver platter. Lifting the lid revealed not food, but four documents.
Nearby pack members leaned in curiously as Adeleke picked up the first paper.
