Chapter 21
Samantha stood speechless, clutching a bag in her hand as she observed the unfolding scene in Alpha Xavier’s office. Despite the intense atmosphere, his presence did not make her feel flustered or scared. Turning calmly to face her, he inquired, “Why are you here?”
Although his voice was gentle, his gaze was ice–cold. Samantha felt a mix of awe and trepidation. Stammering, she attempted to explain, “I… I came because-”
Caught off guard by the presence of Bella Moonshadow in the office with him, Samantha stumbled over her words. She had assumed that Alpha Xavier was involved with another woman, but Bella was not what she expected.
“When did Bella start coming to my office? When did we start dating?” Samantha’s mind raced with questions. Observing the shock on her face, Bella’s heart filled with scorn, and she swiftly walked out, pushing Alpha Xavier away.
Although Bella was not pleased with his treatment of her, she was especially delighted that Samantha had witnessed everything. In the past, Samantha had audaciously interfered in their relationship. Perhaps this was karma coming back around. Alpha Xavier was no saint – if he could betray Bella before, he would surely betray Samantha as well. Eventually, Samantha would experience her fair share of misery.
After Bella got back into her car, Alpha Carl Trevor called her. “Has the gift been delivered?”
“Yes,” Bella replied.
“How did Alpha Xavier react?”
“He… he seemed quite pleased!” Bella blurted out.
Assuming that Alpha Xavier was feeling embarrassed rather than pleased at that moment, Bella chuckled
to herself.
In his office, Alpha Xavier calmly took his seat, observing Samantha. He offered no explanation and showed no panic. A chill ran down Samantha’s spine.
She had always known that she did not hold a special place in his heart. She had blamed Bella for stealing the limelight, thinking that was why Alpha Xavier could not see her virtues. Despite this, Samantha had held on to the idea that there was still room for her in his heart. Now, as she realized he did not feel the need explain himself, she knew she had been mistaken.
Samantha had been a firsthand witness to his ruthlessness towards Bella three years ago. If he could be so heartless to someone he had loved so passionately, how could she expect him to be gentle with her?
Maintaining her composure, Samantha put on a forced smile and said, “My father wants to meet Pamela Green tonight. I couldn’t reach you on the phone, so I thought I’d see if you were free.”

Chapter 21
“No, I’m not free!” Alpha Xavier flatly refused.
Before Bella’s return, he had treated Samantha decently enough. He had been kinder to her in public than he was now. Samantha harbored hatred in her heart, but she continued to ask in a subdued voice, “Then when are you free?”
“Busy with an architectural bid lately. We’ll discuss it after that.”
As Samantha closed the door behind her when she left his office, her genial expression vanished, replaced by a cold and rigid countenance.
Watching Samantha leave Alpha Xavier’s office, Bella observed as her fake friendly facade morphed into a freezing cold exterior. Her heart held a mixture of satisfaction and lingering pain as she remembered Samantha’s interference in her relationship with Alpha Xavier. It felt victorious to witness Samantha’s discomfort. Bella remained indifferent and unyielding.
Alpha Carl Trevor had called her on her way to the office, inquiring about the “gift” she had delivered to Alpha Xavier – a thoughtfully planned surprise that she believed would make an impact.
“Yes, it has been delivered,” she replied, hiding a smirk. Samantha was left speechless, and Alpha Xavier, . though appearing calm on the surface, was surely not on the inside.
“And how did Alpha Xavier react?” Carl asked curiously.
“He… He looked pretty happy!” She couldn’t help but let out a giggle.
Samantha had always declared herself as Alpha Xavier’s “partner.” Her delusions of grandeur had been a constant annoyance. She had always acted as if she were the only woman in his life. Bella’s return disrupted
that.
Seeing Samantha witness her presence in his office felt like karma coming back to haunt her. Bella couldn’t help but grin, imagining the guilt and regret Samantha must be experiencing. She was now being treated harshly by Alpha Xavier, just as Bella had been. The irony brought her immense delight.
Overhearing Samantha’s desperate attempts to regain her composure, Bella listened as she brought up an issue involving someone named Pamela and Green’s father. Hearing Alpha Xavier bluntly refuse with an “I’m not free,” brought a sense of satisfaction to Bella. It was long overdue, and she relished the moment.
Next time, Samantha would think twice before interfering in their relationship. After ending her call with Carl, Bella drove away, feeling lighter in her heart than she had in years. She left Samantha in the mess she deserved and Alpha Xavier to deal with his own raw emotions.
