“What are you doing here?” Izzy demanded, her eyes narrowing as she watched Calen stride toward them, his expression dark. She had thought Calen had a flight back to San Francisco immediately after the event. What the hell was he doing here?
Calen didn’t respond. Without a word, he reached for her wrist, his grip firm as he pulled her away from Liam with a force that caught her off guard. “We need to talk,” he said finally, his jaw clenched. “And you fucking stay away from him!”
Izzy stumbled slightly at the abrupt motion, her confusion quickly giving way to anger. “Calen, what the hell-” she began, but before she could finish, she felt a tug from behind.
Liam stepped forward, his hand closing over her other wrist. His expression remained composed, but his eyes glinted with a warning as he looked at Calen. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Mr. Weiss,” Liam said, his voice low enough to make Calen pause.
Calen’s grip tightened. He took a step closer, his body taut with barely restrained anger. “Let her go, Horvath,” he hissed, his glare cutting between Liam and Izzy. “Mind your own business. This has nothing to do with you.”
Liam’s fingers didn’t move. Instead, he shifted slightly, placing himself more firmly between Izzy and Calen. “It has everything to do with me,” he replied coolly. “You better let her go or I will make sure you regret it!”
Izzy looked between the two men, her frustration mounting. She yanked her wrist free from Calen’s grip and turned to Liam pulling her other hand from his grasp as well. “Enough, both of you!” she snapped.
“Why are you still here, Calen? CEO Weiss told me you were going back to the U.S. today.”
“Yeah, that’s not happening anymore,” Calen said. “Not when this man is around you.” Izzy snorted. “You’re not needed here,” she said.
“Really?” Calen sneered. He turned towards Liam. “Because from the looks of it, someone is already taking advantage of you, and you fucking love it!”
Izzy’s eyes flashed with anger as she took a step back, distancing herself from both men. “Just leave. Go back to San Francisco and stop making a scene,” she said.
Calen’s jaw tightened as he clenched his fist. “Why are you doing this, Izzy? Are you trying to make me jealous?” he asked as he glared at her. “Is this what it is? Are you using him to make me jealous!?”
“Why the hell would you think that?” she shot back.
“We were together for three years. Three years, Izzy. Do you honestly expect me to believe that you’d let some guy touch. you–be this close to you–just weeks after we broke up? It doesn’t make sense.”
“You don’t get to dictate who I’m around or what I do, Calen. Not anymore,” she said firmly.
Calen took a step closer, his eyes narrowing. “Dictate?” He snorted. “Well, let me tell you this. Whatever this is… This isn’t working, Izzy. Whatever game you think you’re playing, it’s not making me jealous–it’s making me angry! So stop it. Now.”
“Or else what, Calen? What are you going to do?” She stood her ground, her gaze locked with his.
“Then I will never forgive you!”
“Forgive me?” Izzy’s mouth dropped, and for a moment, she didn’t know how to respond. What the hell was this man talking about? forgive me? Are you fucking out of your mind? Have you finally ost it?”
He opened his mouth but wasn’t able to say a word.
“What I do has nothing to do with you. Who I am with is none of your business,” Izzy continued. “You better go back to the States and stay away from me.”
Calen’s face twisted in anger as he stepped closer. “Have you already fucked him?” his voice turned cold. “This man just fucking touched you, assaulted you! Yet, here you are, protecting him. Why the hell are you doing this? Have you finally opened your legs and fucked him? Is that why you’re talking to me like this? Like he’s your man now?”
Izzy let out a sharp snort. She was honestly tempted to slap him just now, but she wouldn’t want to dirty her hand anymore. Without another word, she turned to Liam, who stood silently observing the exchange with an unreadable expression.
“Because he is,” she said. Reaching out, she grabbed Liam’s hand her grip firm as she pulled him closer to her. She locked eyes with Calen, her gaze steady. “He is my man.”
Calen froze, his expression shifting from anger to disbelief. “You You are kidding me.”
“Kidding you?” Izzy’smirked. “Why the hell would I do that? You really are thinking too highly of yourself,” she said.
“You’re pathetic.” Calen’s face twisted further in disbelief, anger written across his features as he stared at Izzy. “Do you really think I don’t know you? I know you like the back of my palm! You’ve always hated men like him. Liam Horvath is a manipulative liar who thrives on pretenses. You would never agree to be with someone like him!”
Izzy’s expression didn’t falter. Her hand tightened slightly around Liam’s. “Except I did,” she said. “I agreed to be with him. And there’s nothing you can say to change that.”
Seeing how resolute Izzy’s expression was, Calen’s eyes darted to Liam. He pointed at him, his words laced with contempt. “Are you seriously okay with this, Horvath? Letting her use you like this? Do you really think she’s doing this for you? She’s only using you to make me jealous. Are you alright with being her pawn?”
Liam remained silent for a moment, his gaze steady as he looked at Calen. Then, his lips curled into the faintest of smirks. “If Izzy says it, then it’s true,” he said, his tone unusually calm. “And whatever Izzy wants, she’ll get.” He then turned his attention to Calen. “That’s how I spoil my woman, Mr. Weiss. But you wouldn’t know anything about spoiling your woman… right?”
