Chapter 15
“Instead of thinking about my business, can you at least focus on the one who drugged you?” Izzy narrowed her gaze at the man calmly sitting opposite her. She was pretty certain the drug was out of his system by now. “Shouldn’t you report this to the police or something?” she asked.
“Depends”
“Depends?” She frowned. Why did he look amused? “Depends of what exactly?” she asked.
That would depend if you want me to.”
She instantly rolled her eyes. “Since you look like you’re line, may I know why you chose to barge in here? Surely, you didn’t think I’m a doctor or something, right?”
“I just wanted to see if you’re comfortable,” he said.
Izzy crossed her arms, glaring at Liam. “If you’re here to check on me, consider it done. I’m fine, so you can go now.”
Liam only leaned back in his chair, looking at her with that infuriatingly calm expression. “Are you sure? Because if this room doesn’t suit you, my offer still stands. The master bedroom is much more spacious.”
Izzy scoffed. “No, thanks. I’m not interested in sleeping in your room, Liam.”
He smirked. “Suit yourself. But it’s not every day I offer my own space to someone.” His eyes sparkled with mischief as he
a little company might help.”
added, “Besides, you look far too serious. I though,
Izzy shot him a pointed look. “Trust me, I don’t need your help
Liam chuckled, unfazed. “I expected you’d say that. But as it happens…” He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, his gaze fixed on her. A moment later, Mondo stepped into the room. holding a large, plain envelope.
“Young Madam,” Mondo said, handing her the envelope before stepping back, his face impassive.
Izzy hesitated, then opened the envelope, pulling out a stack of glossy photos. Her expression shifted as she flipped through the images, each one more damning than the last. Calen and Monica, are entangled in various compromising positions. some even with barely a scrap of clothing between them. Her hand went to her mouth, her stomach twisting. She took a shaky breath, then looked up at Liam, her face hardening
“What’s the meaning of this?” she demanded
Liam shrugged, entirely too casual. “I was bored. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to have my people look into a few things. Turns out, catching a cheater isn’t all that difficult these days. Technology does half the work for you. And Calen and Monica aren’t exactly discreet.”
Izzy’s grip tightened on the photos as she continued flipping through them, her hands cold. Then she froze, her eyes narrowing as she spotted an image of Arianna, Samantha, and Monica at a restaurant, dining with Calen as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Blood rushed to her face, draining it of color.
“They knew.” Her words were barely a whisper as her eyes lingered on Arianna and Samantha’s smiling faces as they sat next to Monica, completely unfazed.
Liam watched her, clearly studying her reaction. “It’s amazing what people overlook when there’s something in it for them, isn’t it?”
Izzy lowered the photos, her jaw clenched. “All this time, they knew, and they never said a word.” She shook her head. Just what was she expecting?

Chapter 13
“Quite the supportive friends you’ve got,” Liam said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “They seemed perfectly happy to play along as long as the perks kept coming. So what is your plan?”
Izzy took a deep breath, regaining her composure. She looked at Liam. “I already have a plan. I don’t need your help
He raised an eyebrow, amused “Oh, I’m sure you do. But consider this a little head start. His eyes gleamed as he leaned forward, watching her reaction. “But I know you, Izzy. You’ll want to make this hurt.”
She met his gaze, resolve hardening within her. Yes, she would make them suffer as they had made her suffer. “I can handle this myself”
Liam chuckled. “I never doubted that for a second. But…” He gestured to the envelope. “Sometimes, it’s helpful to have allies with access to the right information”
Izzy’s eyes flicked back to the photos, her fingers tightening around them. She didn’t respond, but the look on her face said enough.
Seeing her reaction, Liam finally stood up. “If you need help..” he paused deliberately, holding her gaze. “Call me “The final words were not a suggestion but a command, which Izzy pointedly ignored as she continued to focus on the photos “Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow. Have a good night,” he added.
Good night Izzy couldn’t tell if he was mocking her. All she knew was that tonight, sleep was out of the question
And she was right.
The next morning. Izzy woke up with dark circles under her eyes. She sighed as she took in her reflection. Normally, she
didn’t bother with heavy makeup for work, but today, she had to make an extra effort just to cover her panda eyes.
After what felt like ages spent fixing her face, she finally left the bedroom and found Liam in the living room, already engrossed in something on his tablet, coffee in hand.
“Well you look decent.” he said, his signature smirk firmly in place. “Breakfast?” He gestured toward the table.
Izzy’s eyes widened at the spread before her. The table was loaded with an array of breakfast options: sausages, ham, croissants, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, and an assortment of spreads and cheeses. A pitcher of fresh orange juice and a steaming pot of coffee completed the setup. She frowned slightly. Was he planning to eat all of this every morning! Judging by his physique, he didn’t seem like the type to indulge in many extra calories.
“Thanks, she replied, though before she could decline, he interrupted.
“I made all this for you. You should have some”
“Huh?” Izzy paused, her gaze moving over the table again. She didn’t believe for a second he’d made this himself—Liam, who grew up surrounded by servants, wouldn’t be whipping up perfect croissants and scrambled eggs anytime soon.
Unfortunately, any witty response vanished as her stomach growled, betraying her. She quickly remembered that she hadn’t had a proper dinner the night before, thanks to everything that had happened.
Liam’s smirk softened, his gaze steady. “Yes, for you. Figured you could use a decent start–after well, last night.”
Izzy felt a warm flicker at his gesture, but she covered it with a shrug. “Thanks.” Even if it was a bit of a lie, she appreciated
the effort.
“Consider it a one–time offer,” he said, taking a sip of his coffee, his smirk returning. “Now, eat up.”
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress the small smile tugging at her lips as she reached for a croissant. Instead of taking a bite, she placed it on a plate and set it down in front of him. “Then you should have one too,” she said sweetly. “After all, I wasn’t the one who got drugged by my date last night.”

Her words hit their mark. Few the first time in what felt like forever, she watched his face falter–the smirk vanishing completely.
