Chapter 14
“Please make yourself comfortable,” Mondes said as he opened the door.
Izzy stepped into the guest room, glancing around. The space was elegant and understated, with a refined, minimalist design. The walls were painted in a soft beige tone, creating a wain and welcoming atmosphere, while the furnishings had a subtle, modern touch. A large, inviting bed with crisp white lines was positioned against the far wall, flanked by matching nightstands holding sleek brass lamps.
Mondo stood by the door, gesturing toward the room. “The young master arranged for an office setup here temporarily. Once the renovations are complete, you’ll have a dedicated office in the main part of the house.”
Izzy nodded, taking in the room. It was carefully organized, with small workspace set up against the opposite wall. A minimalist desk sat under a large window, equipped with basic fice supplies and a laptop. The window overlooked the balcony, which offered a partial view of the city’s skyline, adding a sense of openness to the room.
The attached bathroom was just as tastefully designed. She noted the glass shower and polished marble countertops, the space compact yet efficient, with plush beige towels neatly folded on a rack. Everything felt precise like every detail had been intentionally chosen…
“This is just one of the three bedrooms here,” Mondo explained as she looked around. The master bedroom is where Mr. Horvath is resting, of course. The other room functions as his main office. And this will be turned into your office.”
“An office?” Izzy lifted an eyebrow. She missed this part earlier. She turned to him. “What do you mean, an office?” She thought she would be sleeping here. She frowned. Liam didn’t mention anything about her having an office in his penthouse.
Mondo blinked, then nodded as if he’d understood. “Of course, Young Madam. Young master wanted you to be able to work inside your own office. If you’d like anything specific added to this room, just let me know. We can make adjustments to ensure the space suits you. It’s quite large, so there’s flexibility.”
Izzy opened her mouth to clarify, but Mondo continued. “As for your walk–in closet in the master bedroom, that setup will take some time. Mr. Horvath has decided that, while the master suite is being prepared, you both will stay at his grandfather’s house for the time being.”
She froze, momentarily caught off guard. Her mind spun at the realization. She hadn’t been aware that Liam intended for them to stay together, let alone in the same bedroom in his grandfather’s house. This arrangement was far from what she’d expected, but seeing Mondo’s calm expression, she kept her thoughts to herself. She simply nodded, gathering her composure. “Thank you, Mondo.”
Mondo inclined his head. “If there’s anything else you need, you can call me anytime. I’ll make sure arrangements are taken
care of
She hesitated, then asked, “Do you stay here as well?”
“I stay across the hall,” he replied. “Another apartment, just for the staff.”
Izzy gave him a brief nod. “Thanks again. I appreciate it.”
With a final nod, Mondo exited, leaving Izzy alone. She closed the door and let out a deep breath. She walked over to the bed, kicked off her shoes, and sank onto the soft mattress, stretching out as she stared at the ceiling. The exhaustion from the night hit her full force. Her eyes felt heavy, ready to close at any moment. But a shower sounded equally tempting. The simple thought of washing off the long day’s stress immediately pulled her out of the bed.
Izzy walked into the bathroom and felt a small surge of relief, seeing a robe neatly folded on the counter along with a selection of toiletries arranged with precision. The bathroom itself had an understated elegance–sleek marble countertops, a large mirror with subtle backlighting, and an elegant frosted glass door that separated the shower from the sink area.
She examined the amenities, noting everything she needed was already in place: shampoo, body wash, a new toothbrush,

Toothpaste, and even a small set of face creams. She hadn’t had chance to bring any of her own things, so the sight of these essentials made her feel instantly more at ease.
She wasted no time. She slipped out of her clothes, folding them in a small pile on the counter, and stepped into the shower. Warny water cascaded over her shoulders, instantly relaxing her muscles She took her time, letting the water wash away the tension of the night. The scent of the shampon was clean and soothing, a pleasant change from the heavy perfume of the
After a long rinse, she turned off the water, reaching for her soft obe. But the moment she looked up, her heart nearly stopped.
There, leaning casually against the doorframe, arms crossed and sinirk tugging at his lips, was Liam, watching her.
“What the hell!” she gasped, clutching her robe tighter. “Liam?t
“Out!” she yelled, pulling her robe even closer around her. She had no idea how long he had been standing there. “Get out,
now
“Ive been knocking. When I didn’t get an answer, I thought something might have happened,” he said with a teasing grin “Didn’t realize the bathroom door was wide open.”
Now, what kind of reason was that? She stomped out of the shower, ready to lash out at him when suddenly her foot slipped. Her eyes widened as she felt herself tipping forward, completely off–balance. She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for the inevitable fall
However, instead of hitting the cold, hard floor, Izzy found herself caught in warm, steady arms. She opened her eyes slowly, face–to–face with Liam, who looked down at her with that familiar, infuriating smirk.
“Careful.” he murmured. “Wouldn’t want my new wife getting hurt.”
Izzy’s cheeks burned. She pushed against his chest, trying to regain her footing “I don’t need your help,” she snapped, but her voice wavered, betraying her flustered state.
He didn’t let go right away, his grip firm yet gentle. “Oh, I know But it looks like you’re stuck with it for now.”
She finally managed to stand on her own, quickly stepping back and tightening her robe. “Next time, try knocking a little louder or better yet, just stay out.”
He only responded with a chuckle. “That would be a little difficult, no?”
“What?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.
“It’s gonna be hard to do that, knowing we’ll be sharing one bathroom soon.”
Izzy’s jaw dropped. “Excuse me?”
He shrugged, clearly amused by her reaction. “Since we’ll be renovating this place, we’ll have to stay at my grandfather’s house. And that means…” His eyes glinted mischievously, a smirk tugging at his pinkish lips. “We’ll have to act like a married couple.”
Izzy’s brows shot up. “What?” Mondo had already mentioned this earlier, but hearing Liam say it so casually immediately set her nerves on edge. She gave him a look that could cut through steel.
Obviously, Liam ignored her reaction as he chuckled and leaned in slightly. “Isn’t that exciting Playing house with me?”
She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. “Exciting isn’t the word I’d use.” Irritating should be the right term for that. Izzy thought inwardly. Then she frowned, a question nagging at the back of her mind. Why was this man even here?
