After a moment of thought, she added, “Looks like Asher thinks you’re more of a liability than an asset to the company now. That’s why he’s kicked you to the curb and put Evelina in your place. Even if I hadn’t gone live or exposed all this, you’d still end up facing legal consequences.”
That was Asher’s true intention.
After all, Asher had sunk a ton of money into the entertainment industry and certainly didn’t want to see it all go down the drain.
So, starting to cut ties now meant Asher was giving up on Caspian.
Upon hearing her words, Caspian was on the verge of breaking down, “You’re right. Now I’ve hit rock bottom, worse than being in jail. Happy now?”

Lemira’s words were like a knife, plunging deep into Caspian’s heart.
Caspian was speechless for a long moment, finally managing a feeble, “I’ve gone through what you went through, and now I understand the injustice you felt.”

Lemira cut off Caspian’s further attempts to justify himself.

His voice was choked with emotion, seemingly filled with genuine regret and remorse.
Lemira chuckled lightly, “You might as well go cry to Asher, maybe he’ll have a change of heart. After all, blood is thicker than water, right?”
With that, she hung up.
But Lemira’s mood was anything but calm.
Recently, her PR team had been digging into Eyelina’s father, but came up empty–handed.
It was as if a grown man had vanished without a trace.
Lemira’s attempt to hack Evelina’s phone had been discovered, and Evelina had certainly taken precautions, erasing all evidence.
If not for a photo accidentally captured by her PR team, she might have doubted her own sanity, questioning if she had seen a ghost or mistaken someone else.

Lemira knew without asking that the Waverlies were behind this.
It seemed the Waverlies were indeed keen on protecting their precious son–in–law.
Shortly after, Matthew walked into the office with a cup of iced coffee, “Is a cup of coffee all it takes to send me on my way?”
“Thanks for your hard work today. I owe you a dinner.”
“Alright, I’ll take off now before the fans outside make it impossible to leave,”
Lemira noticed the crowd gathering outside the team’s base, mostly fans who had heard Matthew was there and had come to see their star.
She let Matthew slip out a side door.
After leaving the base, Matthew, wearing a cap, called Orion, “Bro, I overheard it by chance. My mom, along with the Sinclair family’s notorious socialite, often hangs out with Mrs. Waverly. I overheard them talking about it.”
“Why didn’t you say something sooner?”
“Back then, they only mentioned a surname, Langston, from Lyria, with parents deceased, leaving only siblings. I didn’t think much of it at the time. But today, when I found out the Waverlies had managed to send those reporters away, I realized that son–in–law must be Asher.”
