Chapter 455
Caspian gripped Evelina’s hair without any mercy, his fingers entangling in her locks as if they were vines he was determined to uproot.
Evelina’s tears streamed down her face, “I was all bruised up yesterday. If I had gone to see Lemira and the paparazzi caught that, the stories they’d spin… I just wanted to wait until the bruises healed a bit.”
“You’re lying. You could’ve snuck off to a clinic without the media sniffing around. You just didn’t want to, did you? Trying to drive a wedge between me and Lemira, aren’t you?” Caspian’s anger boiled over, and he slapped Evelina across the face.
The pain made Evelina see stars, her legs nearly giving out beneath her.
She quickly sought refuge next to Lucian, her eyes pleading, “Lucian, I really do realize my mistake. I’ll explain everything to Lemira and get her forgiveness.”
But Caspian, far from satisfied, pulled Evelina back and kicked her, sending her tumbling to the floor.
Lucian couldn’t stand by any longer, “Caspian, stop it. Do you want to kill her?”
Caspian’s face, bandaged from some prior mishap, bore a chilling expression, “She deserves it. If it weren’t for this deceitful woman lying and causing strife between me and Lemira, we wouldn’t be in this mess!”
Caspian had been restless, tormented by the thought of having misunderstood Lemira. The guilt was eating him up.
Evelina shrank back, deliberately showing Lucian the bruises on her face.
Seeing the marks, Lucian frowned, “Caspian, aren’t you at fault here too? You didn’t trust Lemmy enough.”
“If you thought Lemira had abandoned you, you’d be just as furious,” Caspian retorted, his face a mask of unease, unwilling to admit his own mistake.
He was convinced Evelina had tricked him, “I want you to apologize right now. Do you hear me? Or I’ll deal with you myself!”
Evelina nodded hastily, “I’ll go apologize to Lemira.”
“Not just apologize. You need her forgiveness. Even if Lemira asks you to kneel and polish her shoes, you’ll do it,” Caspian demanded.
Head bowed, Evelina whispered a response, “I’ll find a way. But I came here to bring you guys some food. I’ve cooked everything myself, especially for Lucian since I heard he’s been having stomach troubles. I’ve made a special chicken soup, similar to what Lemira used to make.”
Struggling to her feet, Evelina carefully handed the soup to Lucian.
“Lucian, I heard about your stomach issues. This took me a while to get right, trying to match Lemira’s recipe as closely as I could. Please, try it.”
Initially reluctant, Lucian’s curiosity got the better of him after seeing Evelina’s condition and remembering Lemira’s soup he hadn’t tasted in ages.
Taking a sip, he found it surprisingly similar.
“How is it?” Evelina asked timidly.
“It’s okay, not quite Lemira’s, but it’s a decent attempt,” Lucian admitted, his tone softening.
“I know it can’t compare, but I wanted to make amends somehow,” Evelina said, her voice strained with pain.
Lucian, a bit moved by her effort, advised, “Then go make things right with Lemmy. Cut out those old tricks, or you’ll find yourself unwelcome in the Langston family.”
“I understand. This is all on me, not Caspian,” Evelina took all the blame upon herself.

Hearing this, Caspian’s mood improved slightly, “At least you’re aware. You, a chauffeur’s daughter, have been living like a princess among the Langstons. We owe you nothing. If you pull any more stunts, I’ll have you thrown out of the Langston family!”
