Chapter 446
In front of outsiders, Caspian’s act was convincingly real.
Lemira’s expression was cool as she said, “Quit the act, Caspian. This isn’t a movie set. No one here is buying your performance.”
Orion’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “Caspian, is this what you call ‘rehearsing a scene‘? Beating Lemíra up like
this?”
Caspian felt a twinge of guilt, “It was an accident. Lemira said she could take it.”
Evelina stepped forward, “But it’s Caspian who ended up getting hurt the worst. How can you go live and twist the story, Lemira?”
Orion looked at Evelina, his tone harsh, “Caspian got injured while running away at the sound of the police sirens. If he wasn’t guilty, why run?”
Evelina struggled for words, “Because Caspian is a public figure. Scandals like this could ruin his reputation.”
Lemira spoke coldly, “Was it you who stirred things up, Evelina? Telling Caspian I was gathering dirt on him, is that why he lashed out?”
Evelina immediately looked down, a picture of innocence, “I would never do such a thing.”
Caspian gave Evelina a meaningful look. Lemira was right; it was Evelina who had deliberately played him the recording, making him aware of Lemira’s supposed betrayal.
That had provoked him into acting rashly.
Evelina noticed Caspian’s glance and shrank back, too scared to speak up. She was sure Caspian wouldn’t expose her.
Caspian’s gaze then shifted to Mr. Alfred standing beside Lemira, his expression darkening, “Lemira, I underestimated you. To think you could get Mr. Alfred to represent you in court.”
The day of the incident, Thaddeus had blocked the ambulance with his car. Caspian would never forget that.
If it weren’t for his agent moving heaven and earth to get a helicopter dispatched, who knows how long it would’ve taken to get to the hospital.
Maybe the scars on his face would’ve been less severe.
All of it traced back to Lemira.
Lemira’s tone was icy, “I’m not the same kid who just stood there and took it anymore. I hope you remember
that.”
After speaking, Lemira walked past Caspian, her features cold and detached.
“Caspian, you left me behind once as a kid, and I nearly died. If you weren’t my brother, I would’ve settled scores with you long ago.”
Seeing Mr. Alfred shook Caspian up.
TG Group’s PR Team had been swayed by Lemira, and now with Mr. Alfred by her side, Caspian’s chances were slim.
Caspian turned around, his eyes brimming with tears as he stared at Lemira, “You owe me a life since we were kids, and now you’re trying to take mine again?”
“Explain yourself. When did I ever owe you a life?” Lemira had heard this accusation from Caspian several
times.
Quick to interrupt, Evelina urged, “Caspian, let’s go inside. We shouldn’t waste more time.”
Chapter 42
Orion eyed Evelina coldly, “Your eagerness to change the subject… were you involved in that past incident?”
“You’re talking nonsense. That has nothing to do with me,” Evelina protested, her face draining of color. If Caspian learned the truth, she was done for.
Caspian spoke up, “No, it was Evelina who saved me back then. And you, Lemira, left me in that alley, even pointed the thugs my way. Am I wrong?”
Suddenly, Lemira remembered something.
She stared intently at Evelina, ‘So, this is what you told Caspian?”
It all made sense now.
