Lemira shot Asher a frosty look, her face a mask of disdain.
“You keep saying it’s all for the family,” she sneered, “but when Lucian rolled out in that wheelchair, looking pale as a ghost, I didn’t hear a peep of concern from you.”
“Lemira, is that any way to talk to you brother?” Asher’s voice boomed across the room.
Lemira remained cool, her voice steady, “The guiltier the conscience, the louder the bark. It’s just a way to mask their own faults.”
Asher was left speechless, struck by her words.
He then turned to Lucian, finally noticing how gaunt he had become. Lifting him with ease, as if he weighed nothing, Asher’s concern grew. “How have you gotten so thin? Didn’t you say you needed surgery for your stomach issues? Didn’t you go?”
Sitting in his wheelchair, Lucian pushed Asher’s hands away, “Asher, I was in the hospital waiting for the surgery, but then this mess happened, and I had to come.”
“Now that I’ve taken leave from work, let me handle this. You just focus on getting better. If it’s serious, we can ask Rowan to come back and operate.”
“It’s not that serious. No need to bother Rowan.”
“But didn’t she say you had cancer? How is that not serious?”
Asher suspected Lemira was lying, exaggerating Lucian’s condition.
Lucian just offered a bitter smile, denying nothing.
Asher turned back to Lemira, his voice raised in anger, “Did you hear that? Lucian doesn’t have cancer. You just wish the worst for us, don’t you?”
Lemira glanced at Lucian before turning away, deciding some battles weren’t worth fighting.
“I should’ve minded my own business,” she muttered under her breath as she started to leave, only to be stopped by Asher’s angry voice.
“Lemira, did I say you could go? After what you’ve done to Caspian, leaving him scarred, you can just stay in the hospital without a care?”
She turned, her tone final, “It seems they haven’t told you the whole story. Wait for the police investigation.”
Lemira had no desire to argue further.
But Asher, not willing to let it go, attempted to follow her, only to be blocked by Debby and her team, “Mr. Langston, take one more step and we call the police. Think about the repercussions for the Langston family.”
“You were hired for Caspian’s PR, weren’t you? How much is she paying you? I’ll double it!”
Debby looked at him oddly, “This isn’t about money.”
The Langston family seemed out of touch. With the Everhart heir’s protection, Lemira wasn’t someone they could sway with cash.
“Asher, just moments ago Ms. Langston was injured, and you didn’t even ask about her. That family abuse live stream seems more and more credible now,” Debby taunted.
Asher’s face darkened, “You don’t know Lemira. Because of her, the Langston family is on the brink of ruin.”
Lucian, sick, Alaric facing jail, and now Caspian injured – all because of Lemira.
Lucian tried to reason, “Asher, are you really unaware of Caspian’s nature, or just pretending?”

Caspian’s temper was notorious within the family.
Asher massaged his temples, “I just don’t get why Lemira can’t step back. Haven’t we been good to her? Instead, she’s sending one brother to jail and leaving the other in ruins.”
“Asher, you know why Alaric is in jail. And it’s not the first time Caspian’s laid hands on Lemmy. Deep down, you know the truth, but you’re forcing her to submit,” Lucian didn’t hold back, exposing Asher’s true motives.
“You might think you’re doing this for revenge, for our parents, but pressuring your own sister like this? You’ll regret it,” Lucian warned.
“I won’t,” Asher declared stubbornly, “I’ve dedicated years to building our business for the day we could confront Orvin and avenge our parents. Look what Lemira’s done.”
