Lemira’s tone dripped with sarcasm. “Isn’t that your favorite line? Always harping on about evidence when it’s something to do with me?”
No evidence, so it’s her fault, not Evelina’s.

Asher’s face turned red with anger at Lemira’s smirk. Pointing a finger at her, he barked, “Don’t give me that crap. Aside from spreading rumors, there’s also the fact that my company’s firewall has been under constant cyber attacks, leaving our system paralyzed now and then. Was it you?”
Hacked?
Temira let out a laugh. “Seems like you’ve got plenty of enemies waiting to kick you when you’re down.”
“Who else but you could pull off something like this?”
Asher was fuming, his hand involuntarily balling into a fist, but the stern look in Lemira’s dark eyes made him think twice, and he lowered his hand.
He subconsciously touched his arm where Lemira had hit him the day before. It was still bruised.
Lemira watched as Asher lowered his fist, a cold look in her eyes. Violence seemed to be an effective deterrent against him.
At least now he knew better than to try anything physical with her, aware he couldn’t win.
Lucian coughed and stood up. “Lemmy, Asher’s just a bit too anxious, don’t take his words to heart.”

was impatient. “You’re not welcome here, just leave!”
“Lemira, I’m not leaving until you explain yourself. You hacked into my company’s system. I need to know if any confidential information was leaked. You owe me an explanation!”
“An explanation, you say?”
Lemira opened Thaddeus‘ laptop with a straight face, her slender fingers dancing across the keyboard.
Code streamed across the laptop screen, and in no time, she had breached the Langston Group’s system.
Lucian watched in surprise. He hadn’t realized Lemira was this skilled.
To think she could hack into Asher’s company system on the fly–a system that cost a fortune to secure and was supposedly impervious to most hackers.
Lucian’s gaze on Lemira became complex. He had underestimated her.
Despite being the Langston family’s brightest star, she had always been overshadowed and suppressed by her brothers.
Asher scoffed. “Lemira, you better fix my company’s system right now.”
The next second, Asher’s secretary piped up in panic. “Boss, the office just called. Our entire system has crashed, and we’ve lost control over the secure zones.”
“What?”
Only then did Asher face Lemira. “Stop, what have you done?”
He had thought Lemira was fixing the system, but that clearly wasn’t the case!

Lemira paused, her voice cold. “You wanted an explanation, didn’t you?”

Lemira’s expression was blank, her gaze tranquil, sending a shiver down Asher’s spine.
Asher, veins throbbing at his temples, stuttered in rage. “You dare!”
“You didn’t believe me. The only way to prove it wasn’t me hacking into your system was to show you.”
Lemira’s tone was light, almost airy. Asher turned to his secretary, yelling, “What are you looking at me for? Get the tech team on it! Do I look like I can fix it?”
Idiots!
Lemira sat back, watching Asher fume and fuss, trying to find a solution that wasn’t coming easily.
Soon, Asher approached Lemira, hands braced on the table, his eyes bloodshot.
He said, “Lemira, fix the system. You’ve dug this hole!”
Lemira looked up, her voice soft but firm. “Then ask me nicely.”
