However, it was Evelina’s voice that greeted her, “Hey, Lemira, what do you need Lucian for?”

Evelina hung up, a smirk playing at the comers of her mouth, knowing it was futile that Lemira realized it now. The video had been destroyed.
But as Evelina turned around, she saw Lucian awake. Startled, her smile froze, “Lucian, when did you wake up?”
“When you denied having the flash drive”
Lucian, noticing he was clad in the hospital gown, asked with a steely tone, “Where’s the flash drive?”
“Lucian, can’t you forgive me just this once? I was the one who saved you when you fainted on the street!”
Evelina still wouldn’t give up.
“Give me the flash drive, then I might consider it.”
“No, you’d just show it to Asher and the others, wouldn’t you?”
Lucian’s expression was callous, “Since you think you’re innocent, why fear Asher and the others knowing?”
“Lucian, my dad saved Lemira’s life. He died in the explosion trying to save your parents. You can’t do this to me!*
“It’s because of your father you even got a chance with the Langstons. Give me the flash drive, got it?”
Evelina realized her act of desperation wouldn’t sway Lucian. She glanced outside the hospital room before replying in a low voice, “I’ve already destroyed the flash drive.”
Lycian, enraged, slapped Evelina, “Who gave you the guts to do that?”
“Lucian, I’ve never hurt Lemmy, why won’t you believe me?”
Evelina suddenly burst into tears, playing the victim. Just then, Asher walked in and saw Evelina covering her face, “Lucian, why did you hit Eve?”
“Asher, do you have any idea what Evelina did? Lemira almost got into trouble at the bar a few days ago. Evelina and Susanna were in on it together, they even drugged her!”
Evelina, trying to look pitiful, countered, “Asher, I didn’t do any of that.”
“Evelina, you dare deny it? You were at the bar, there are witnesses!”
“I-I was at the bar, yes, but it was Lemira who crossed Susanna. Ms. Sinclair made her drink a couple of shots, that’s all. There were no drugs, no kidnapping!”
Seeing Evelina lie through her teeth left Lucian dumbfounded by her audacity. He’d never expected how good her acting skills are!
Asher frowned, saying, “Lucian, how could Eve possibly do such a thing!”
“Asher, so you’re saying Lemira is lying?”
“Since she was a kid, in order to get our attention, how many lies have she made? You have no proof!”

Lucian managed a bitter smile, “Who says I don’t have proof? Lemmy got the bar’s surveillance footage. I saw it with my own eyes, how carr it be fake?”
Asher paused, “If you’ve got surveillance footage, where is it? Show me.”
“After I fainted, Evelina took the flash drive.”
