Lemira blurted out, “I wanna hit a bar tonight.”
“Sure thing.”
“No way.”
Lemira instinctively turned to Orion, her eyes shimmering with a hint of anticipation.
After a moment of silent communication, Orion caved, “Why the sudden urge to hit a bar?”
Lemira’s voice was tinged with longing, “Never been to one, so I wanna check it out.”
Truth be told, she had never set foot in a bar in this life.

Thaddeus playfully slapped Orion on the chest, “Aw, come on, why be such a party pooper, you tyrant, you meanie!”

Lemira couldn’t help but laugh until her stomach hurt. She was genuinely enjoying her life now.

Lucian, glued to his phone, was in a foul mood. He knew he had affected Lemira’s performance, despite her hard work and improved grades in the past few months.
Returning to the living room, Lucian found Evelina in tears, all aggrieved.
Zack and Alaric were trying to console her.
Zack said, “Ms. Sterling, your performance dipped because you were sick during the exams. Your real potential is much higher than this.”
Alaric chimed in, “Exactly, Eve, don’t beat yourself up. The results don’t mean anything. For families like ours, average grades won’t hinder your future prospects.”
Evelina wiped away her tears in distress, “But Lemmy must have done well, right? I was hoping to attend the same college as her, but now it seems impossible.”
Without thinking, Alaric blurted out, “She probably didn’t do that great. I heard a top student bombed their exam and only scored a hundred points more than you.”
A flicker of triumph crossed Evelina’s eyes, suggesting Lemira really did suffer because of the substandard stationery.
Lucian, with a stern face, walked over, “Alaric, are you taking pleasure in someone else’s misfortune? Lemmy is our sister. How does her. doing poorly benefit you?”
“Lucian, that wasn’t my intention. I was just trying to comfort Eve.”
“Comforting Evelina doesn’t mean you have to put Lemmy down, does it?”
After being reprimanded, Alaric realized his mistake and mumbled, “Got it. Won’t happen again. But what about Lemira?”
Lucian’s expression was grim expression, “What do you think? Anyone would be upset in her place. This is all my fault!” He hadn’t managed the situation well.
Evelina, feigning concern, added, “Lucian, if Lemmy feels bad about her scores and wants to take a gap year, I can do it with her. After all, we’re family, and we should progress together. But given Lemmy’s desire to leave the Langston family, I doubt she’ll consider it.”
Lucian frowned, “That’s not up to her. I’ll personally see to it that she takes a gap year, taking care of everything for Lemmy until she re–sits the exam.”
