Chapter 06
Just then, however, Lucas suddenly embraced me in his arms, and the familiar scent of oak and
amber surrounded me.
It was an extremely warm feeling, reminding us that there wa

still the closest bond between us.
Or maybe it was the weight of the memories crashing down all at once.
Suddenly, I felt like crying.
If Lucas had just looked at me, really looked, he would’ve seen the tears welling in my eyes.
Lucas seemed to have drunk a lot. He didn’t notice the tension in the air. Instead, he held me close,
gently kissed my forehead, and whispered softly:
“Evelyn, I love you.‘
“It’s okay. We can always take more pictures. How about we go to the beach tomorrow for a “wedding photoshoot? I’m sorry. I know I upset you today.”
“But my Luna, no matter what dress you wear, you’ll always be the most beautiful in my eyes.”
I closed my eyes, trying to hide the ache in my chest, and asked quietly, “Who is your Luna?”
Lucas looked at me with sincerity. “Evelyn, we’re destined to be together. You’re my one and only
Luna. It can only ever be you.”
Whenever he got drunk, he would cling to me like a child, refusing to let go and whisper over and over how much he loved me and wanted to build a family with me.
I used to find comfort in those words, but tonight, I gently pulled my hands away and pushed him
back a little.
Sensing something was wrong, Lucas immediately tightened his grip, unwilling to let go.
“Why are you crying? Who upset you? Tell me.”
It’s you, Lucas,

You’re the only one who can hurt me this much.
Iforced a small smile. “It’s nothing. I’m just tired.”
Lucas looked at me with pleading eyes. “Then stay with me a little longer, okay? Evelyn, I need
you…
The faint scent of Daisy on his clothes made me feel sick. I couldn’t help but push him away and turn. my head.
“You should clean yourself up first. Especially your collar.”
When he returned from the bathroom, he looked uneasy–he had clearly noticed the lipstick stain on
his shirt.
For the past few days, he had felt the change in me–how distant I’d become–and it scared him.
Like something terrible was about to happen.
He tried to explain, “Evelyn, I’ve only been close to Daisy because of the engagement ceremony. The lipstick must’ve gotten there by accident when we were trying on outfits. Please don’t be upset.”
I didn’t respond, just turned away and said, “Let’s go to bed.”
The following days, Lucas seemed restless. He came home early, cooked me breakfast, and treated me like we were in the early days of our relationship.
He’d wake me up gently, kiss me when I was lost in thought, and whisper, “Evelyn, I’m going to make you the happiest bride in the world.”
He kept talking about our future as if saying it enough times would make it real.
But every day, I glanced at my phone, counting down the days.
Six days left.
Lucas, you can keep dreaming about the future.
I won’t be there for it.
**The Day Before the Wedding–7:00 AM**
Lucas woke me up, excitement written all over his face..
After Husband’s Betrayal, I Become Alpha’s Heir
Sweetheart, today’s the day! We’re taking our wedding photos at the beach. I’ve arranged everything.. let’s go!”
I nodded without thinking much. I assumed this was just another attempt to make up for everything.
But when we got to the parking garage sitting there.
I opened the passenger door–only to find Daisy already
“Oh, you’re here!” she said cheerfully, waving at us.
She was dressed up like a model.. her makeup flawless, her outfit carefully chosen.. as if she were the one getting married.
I turned to Lucas and asked, “Who exactly are you taking pictures with today?”
Lucas looked flustered. “Of course it’s you, Evelyn! Daisy just needed a ride to the beach. It’s no big
deal.”
Too tired to argue, I climbed into the back seat without another word.
As he drove, Lucas casually asked, “So, Daisy, why are you going to the beach?”
“Paisy giggled and said playfully, “What’s the matter, Alpha? Is the beach reserved just for your
wedding photos?”
Lucas quickly shook his head. “No, no, that’s not what I meant. I was just curious.”
Daisy smiled sweetly. “Actually, I’m meeting a male friend there. He asked me to take some photos with him, and I thought it might be fun.”
Lucas’s face instantly darkened.
