Chapter 7
It had been five years, and this was the first time he showed a hesitant expression between Miriam and Sylvia.
His brows furrowed, and amidst his anxiety, there was a hint of reluctance.
“Is there no other way?”
“Sylvia, she had just been injured…”
Everyone was shocked to see Sergio, who had always regarded Miriam as his life, hesitating at this
moment.
Several people exchanged glances, incredulously saying, “Sergio, what are you talking about? Sylvia is just a bootlicker, and you’re actually still worried about her?”
Sergio’s face darkened a bit, and just as he was about to speak, Sylvia had already lifted the covers
and got out of bed first.
She put on her coat while walking out.
“Let’s go, I could donate blood.”
At this moment, Miriam’s life was certainly more important than hers.
After all, if she died, Sylvia’s mission would not be accomplished.
She didn’t feel sad, she was just hurt a moment ago. Now, as she walks, she feels dizzy and can only take steps with the support of the wall.
Watching her staggering figure as she walked away, Sergio’s heart unexpectedly felt a slight pang.
This was the first time he felt the pain because of her, and he felt it was utterly absurd.
Although Miriam was the most important person in his heart, he felt heartbroken because of
another woman.
It was guilt, he just felt guilty towards her.
After all, she had just saved his life, so it was normal for him to feel pity for her.
Sergio repeatedly told himself in his mind and then followed Sylvia to the blood donation room.
The air conditioning in the blood donation room was very low, and Sylvia was wearing a thin jacket, her body trembling involuntarily.
Sergio watched the nurse’s not–so–gentle actions beside him, causing his brow to furrow even

deeper.
“Is it enough?”
“How much more do you want to smoke?”
“Did I smoke too much…”
Sylvia lifted her head and said earnestly, “Don’t worry, doctors are sensible and it won’t affect the heart donation surgery in a few days.”
Sergio froze, about to explain that he didn’t mean it that way, when the nurse had already removed
the needle.
“Okay, after drawing so much blood at once, rest well and avoid vigorous exercise for the next few
days.”
Sylvia whispered her thanks and then, pale–faced, rose to her feet and dismissed Sergio.
“I was tired and wanted to go back to the ward to rest, so you can go and keep an eye on Ms. Bolton.”
After saying these words, she didn’t even wait for Sergio’s response. She pressed her arm with her
hand and slowly walked out of the door.
For some reason, Sergio felt a little uneasy in his heart.
He couldn’t describe the emotion he was feeling, but he knew that his chest felt like it had a heavy stone pressing on it, making him feel suffocated and unable to catch his breath.
Over the next few days, Sylvia stayed in the hospital, which was convenient as she was about to
undergo surgery soon.
Occasionally, nurses came to examine her, and she could still hear some gossip about Sergio and
Miriam.
“Do you know that patient in the VIP ward? The show was quite grand!”
“You’re talking about Ms. Bolton, right? Everyone in the hospital knows about her. Mr. Velazquez,
the CEO of the Velazquez Group, has a deep affection for her. Not only did he arrange for the
hospital director to personally examine her, but he also booked the entire VIP floor just for her.”
“Yeah, last time when I went to deliver the medicine, I personally witnessed a person w… was as
cold as an iceberg in front of others, holding a cake and tenderly coaxing her to eat it.”
“If I could have a man like this treating me in my whole life, I would consider it worth dying for…”
Every time she heard these words, Sylvia silently closed her eyes, ignoring their words.
