Celebrating New Year for the first time in the peak of summer, Kinsley and Yazmin both found it
fascinating.
Yazmin’s father and mother, Carson and Adelyn, brought many things from their home country. The two little girls were sticking couplets and window decorations in the living room.
Looking at the lively atmosphere in the house, after many years, Kinsley finally felt the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year again.
Since her grandmother passed away, she has been spending Chinese New Year’s Eve alone.
Although Donte would come to accompany her, it was usually in the evening, before eight o’clock,
and she would be alone at home.
All she could feel was an exceptionally intense loneliness, set against the backdrop of the lively
world around her.
She thought that after getting married in the new year, she would be able to change this situation.
But unexpectedly, the marriage did not happen, and the New Year was spent with someone.
Busy in the kitchen, Adelyn served a plate of freshly fried meatballs and smiled warmly as she
asked her to taste the flavor, her tone filled with concern and affection.
“Kinsley, this is Yazmin’s favorite dish. Give Auntie’s cooking a try and see if it suits your taste.”
Kinsley took a bite, but didn’t have time to give her opinion.
Yazmin, who was playing with her phone, ran over eagerly, opening her mouth and waiting to be
fed.
Kinsley picked up a piece of jerky and intended to let it cool down before feeding it to her, but she
couldn’t wait and took a bite directly.
Watching her hopping around in pain from being scalded, Kinsley went to fetch a glass of water and returned, only to be embraced by Adelyn, who couldn’t stop laughing.
“Don’t spoil her, always thinking about food all the time, I wonder what she’s so anxious about.”
Yazmin kept panting, quickly took a sip of water, and then looked over with a displeased
expression.
“What’s spoiled? Can’t Kinsley like me? We are like sisters, hmph!”
Her childish appearance made Kinsley can’t help but chuckle.

With someone supporting her, Yazmin became even more proud. She stepped forward and grabbed
his hand, acting coquettishly.
“Kinsley, if you don’t mind, why not consider me as your younger sister? You see, I could wash dishes, make you laugh, and even accompany you for shopping. We would be such a perfect match.”
When saying this, Yazmin’s funny and mischievous expression made Kinsley finally unable to hold back and burst into laughter.
Adelyn raised her hand and tapped her daughter’s forehead, making a clicking sound.
“Did you really want to be my sister, or were you just trying to openly mooch off Kinsley’s meals?”
“What freeloading! I was sincere and genuine, without any ulterior motives. Mom, don’t slander
me!”
After Yazmin firmly clarified her statement, she then pleaded with Kinsley, holding onto her arm.
“Promise me, Kinsley, so that I could just call you sister directly in the future. It would be so much
easier!”
It wasn’t a big deal either, Kinsley was easily persuaded and naturally agreed.
Seeing her nod, Yazmin was so happy that she couldn’t find her way, and she jumped and twirled
several times.
Carson, who was carrying a large plate of fish, came out and confidently protected the dish.
“That’s great! You two girls are of similar age and get along well. It’s reassuring for us parents that you can take care of each other while abroad. Just that Yazmin is younger, Kinsley, could you please take on more responsibility?”
Adelyn also looked at the two people with a face of satisfaction, unable to hide the joy in her eyes.
“When I first saw Kinsley, I had this thought, but I was too shy to speak up. Now that Kinsley has nodded, I won’t hide it anymore. Here, this is a New Year’s gift for you two sisters, quickly accept
it.”
Adelyn spoke while taking out two gift boxes from her pocket.
As soon as she opened it, Kinsley was stunned to see two identical gold bracelets.
She dared not accept this generous gift, but the Juarez family, mother and daughter, insisted on putting it on her and kept persuading her.
