Chapter 14
The smile on Kinsley’s face froze.
When a few girls shared, they also talked about their ex–boyfriends cheating.
When she heard it, she took it as a joke, but when the topic turned to herself, she found it difficult to speak up.
It has been so long since then, thinking about the name Donte, she actually no longer had any feelings of sadness.
In front of a group of girls who were two or three years younger than her, just graduated and inexperienced in the ways of the world, she didn’t know how to speak up.
After all, it is truly a heartbreaking situation to hear that my first love, whom I had been in a relationship with for seven years and was just a month or two away from getting married, cheated
on me.
She did not want to see pity or sympathy on everyone’s faces.
The silence of these few seconds made Yazmin sense something unusual.
She changed the subject voluntarily, without putting Kinsley in a difficult position.
After the meal, when everyone was full and satisfied, Yazmin came over and apologized on her own
-initiative.
“Kinsley, I didn’t mean to just now, I’m sorry.”
Kinsley, of course, knew it was an unintentional mistake and she smiled and waved her hand.
After returning to the bedroom, she opened her phone and logged into a new WhatsApp account
that she had registered a month ago.
Several friends kept sending her many messages, and she replied to each one, thanking everyone
for their concern.
My best friend replied to the message instantly.
“Maeve, how did you disappear like evaporating from the face of the earth, making me worry for so long?”
Just by looking at the screen, Kinsley could recall the tone of her current complaints.
She sighed lightly, quickly apologized, and reported her safety.
The two sisters chatted and talked about their recent lives. They mentioned Kinsley and how she

couldn’t help but fall asleep.
The next day, when she woke up again, she looked at the 99+ messages sent by her best friend and widened her eyes.
Looking through them one by one, I realized that most of them were related to Donte.
“After you left, Donte would come to me every now and then asking about your whereabouts. Don’t worry, I kept my mouth shut tight and didn’t reveal a single word!”
“Fortunately, you went to the train station before going to the airport. He thought you had left Crowmount by taking an illegal taxi, and he was searching for you all over the country.”
“I heard that Donte has been getting drunk at the bar these days. Just two days ago, he drank until he had a stomach bleeding and was sent to the hospital. He really deserves it!”
“He even went to find your parents, but you had already cut off contact with them long ago, so they definitely had no idea!”
Upon seeing the news related to Donte again, Kinsley remained completely unaffected.
She pulled back the curtains and looked at the clear river in the distance, lost in her thoughts.
At the age of twelve, her parents divorced and each formed their own families, neither of which wanted her, so they abandoned her to her solitary grandmother.
When she was seventeen, her grandmother passed away, leaving only her name on the household
registration.
When she was eighteen and agreed to be with Donte, he had promised to give her a home.
She believed his words and waited for him for seven years.
The result obtained, however, was a ridiculous memory loss scam and the reality of infidelity.
The happiness once held in the palm turned into smoke and clouds, and I still had to play a game
with Donte.
Looking back on those long thirty days, Kinsley still shuddered.
Fortunately, everything has already passed.
She pulled back the curtains, and the bright sunlight streamed in, dispelling the chill from her body.
The alarm clock rang at eight o’clock, she changed her clothes, picked up her bag, and went to
school with Yazmin.

The freshman enrollment ceremony was held in the auditorium.
She sat among a group of energetic young people, listening to the principal’s earnest lecture, and that sense of unreality that had been lingering in her heart slowly dissipated.
Kinsley’s future has already begun.
