Chapter 8
I impatiently clicked my tongue and a cold indifference filled my forehead, “A boring oath made casually hundreds of years ago, only fools would take it seriously, right?”
Upon hearing me say this, Tyrell stood dumbfounded in the same spot for over ten seconds before finding his voice and saying, “Lailah, remember what you said today.”
“When you regret, even if you kneel down and beg me, I will not turn back.”
After speaking, the man started the car and left.
After sending away the plague god, I happily returned to my best friend’s side and spent the whole night with her, listening to music and chatting.
An evening half a month later.
I ran into an unexpected person at the large supermarket near my house.
“Milton?”
With hesitation, I just shouted out when the tall and handsome man extended his left hand and, as he had done countless times before, rubbed my head.
“Lailah, long time no see.”
Even after many years of not seeing each other, Milton Brewer’s gaze towards me remained as
warm and deep as ever.
I have known him since we were young.
As the boy next door, he always treated me like a younger sister, always accommodating me and cleaning up countless messes for me.
I couldn’t help but lightly tap his shoulder and asked with teary eyes, “Didn’t you already settle down abroad? Why didn’t you let me know in advance when you were coming back? I could have driven to pick you up.”
Milton pursed his lips and chuckled, “My parents still don’t know that I came back.”
“Ah? Then why did you…..
“Your sister told me that you had decided to stay with your parents and would not leave.”
After a brief pause, he looked into my eyes and added, “So, I came back too.”
After saying what needed to be said, the man didn’t care about my silence and casually took the shopping cart from my hands.
Quietly, she strolled through the supermarket with me, and then, carrying shopping bags, she walked back to the community with me, facing the sunset glow.
When I was about to go upstairs to go home, he spoke up and asked me to wait for a moment.
In less than two minutes, Milton quickly returned to my side.
“Lailah, you loved bitter coffee the most.”
Seeing the childhood delicacy that I hadn’t eaten for a long time, I was momentarily stunned, but quickly raised my eyebrows and was about to take it over….
But the next second, someone forcefully grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a familiar male
embrace.
“Tyrell? Why were you here?”
I froze all over, greatly surprised by the sudden appearance of the man.
However, Tyrell did not answer my question and just forcefully pulled me, preparing to shove me
into his car.
In a moment of desperation, I struggled desperately while instinctively shouting, “Milton!”
Milton quickly dropped everything at hand and rushed forward to grab hold of my other arm.
Seeing this, Tyrell gave Milton a sinister look that I had never seen before, and stared at the hand he had placed on me. Through gritted teeth, he said, “Well done, Milton.”
“Lailah, we had only been apart for less than a month, and you dared to cheat on me,
didn’t you?”
Upon hearing this, I was shocked and stared at him in disbelief, saying, “Are you insane, Tyrell? What are you talking about with cheating on you? Do I have any connection with you at all?”
As I struggled to escape from him, Tyrell’s face grew darker and gloomier, like water. “Lailah, I came here today to formally propose to you.”
So stop throwing your tantrums like a spoiled princess.
If this endless cold war continues, the one who will truly be hurt in the end is only you.
In the midst of speaking, Tyrell tightly gripped me while slowly reaching into his trouser pocket.
Soon, he fumbled for a heart–shaped box and, with a fanatical look in his eyes, opened it in front of me, putting on a show.
Who knew, it was empty inside.
