Like a bolt of lightning, the question froze him. His confident façade crumbled.
I removed his hands from my waist and shoved him against the wall. “Answer me. Where
were you?”

Elizabeth, I—” Tyler faltered, words failing him. “I-”
My eyes were ice, pressing him mercilessly, “Speak. Where were you?”
“I…I was-” He avoided my gaze, then suddenly forced a smile. “Something came up at home that day, I had to run back home-”
Smack!
Smack–smack!
Smack–smack–smack–smack–smack!
Enraged, I unleashed a flurry of slaps across Tyler’s face.
“Tyler Horton, can’t recall? Let me help refresh your memory!”
I kicked him viciously between the legs.
The pointed heel struck home; he sucked in a sharp breath, turning ashen, curling toward the floor in agony.
“That day, you were in Sarah Carlisle’s room, indulging in your filthy deeds!”
Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. “Elizabeth…” he begged weakly.
I leaned in, close to his face, “You said I never left you during your lowest point.”
I grabbed his tie, lifting him as if he were a dead weight, “Then tell me this–on the day of
my mother’s memorial, when you disgraced yourself so thoroughly, don’t you deserve to
die?!”

Tyler couldn’t meet my eyes.
I pressed his head down, slamming it against the floor repeatedly, each impact ringing out.
“These knocks are your tribute to my mother!”
Overcome by pain, Tyler offered no resistance.
I flung him aside onto the ground,“Just because you’ve had a bit of hardship, now you suddenly remember me?”
“Tyler Horton, let me warn you.”
“You’ve got plenty more suffering ahead!”
I had just stepped out of the private room when I nearly bumped into Jeff Vince, who was lounging in the corridor.
No telling how long he’d been watching the show, but he looked delighted, as if he hadn’t had enough entertainment yet.
He watched me storm out, my high heels tapping sharply on the floor, then strode over and clapped his hands with a grin.
His silver–framed glasses caught the light at a sharp angle, reflecting a shrewd glint,“As expected of my wife. Quite fierce.”
I irritably slapped at him, but he easily caught my hand and then held it in his palm.
“Even just watching the fun, I get implicated.” He laughed heartily. “Look at that fiery temper of yours. I really like it.”
Annoyed, I asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Of course I’m here. He gained an advantage once; did you think I’d let him gain a second
one?”
I glared at him, “You were spying on me?”
Jeff remained utterly candid, “Yes, I care about my wife, so I pay close attention to her whereabouts.”

I gritted my teeth and headed toward the parking lot.
There are countless ways to tear off a hypocrite’s mask, but none of them work on Jeff Vince. He never bothers with disguises at all.
He’s always this straightforward–so straightforward it makes me grind my molars, feeling
both love and hate at once.
Two cars, one behind the other, pulled out onto the road.
At a red light, Jeff stopped to my right. He rolled down his window and whistled.
I rolled down my own window and eyed him as if he were crazy. “What?”
Jeff adjusted his glasses, “Nothing, gorgeous. I just wanted to say you’re as pretty as my
wife.”
I ignored him.
He whistled again.
I glared at him, irritated, “What now!”
His perfectly handsome face broke into a smile, “Elizabeth, you look so cute when you’reTM
mad.”
As the light turned green, he hit the gas and sped off, leaving me behind.
Without my restraint, Jeff began a precise hunt against Tyler Horton.
Jeff might appear lazy and cynical on the surface, but when it comes to crushing someone, he wields thunderous methods.
With just a wave of his hand, Tyler found obstacles at every turn.
No matter what project Tyler touched–big or small–Jeff would tirelessly pursue and
blockade it.
In the business world, everyone is sharp. It took them no time to realize Jeff had no intention of giving Tyler any chance to rise again.

Rumors flew around the circle. They said that because Tyler once held a wedding ceremony
with me first, Jeff bore a “grudge of stolen bride” and was now taking revenge on Tyler–avenge “the robbery of a wife,” so to speak.
Hearing the gossip I dug up, Jeff nodded, “Yes, that’s exactly it.
People also noticed that Jeff’s revenge was aimed only at Tyler Horton, not at Matt Horton.
The Horton family quickly understood the situation and sacrificed Tyler Horton to save the
- st. They handed Horton Corporation’s reins to Matt Horton, completely kicking Tyler
Horton out.
Fearing the whole Horton family might be implicated, they didn’t even leave Tyler Horton a regular employee position.
