Chapter 2
The next morning, I drove back home.
Sarah Carlisle was already gone, leaving Tyler Horton lounging lazily on the couch, his long legs stretched out.
cigarette flickered between his fingers as he asked, “Where did you go?”
I ignored him.
Speaking even one word to him felt filthy.
I had only come back to pack my things.
The mere thought of what had happened in that room made me nauseous.

I couldn’t wait to leave.
I headed straight to the master bedroom.
Tyler quickly got up and caught up with me in just a few strides, his voice heavy.
“Elizabeth, where were you yesterday on our anniversary?”
I stopped in my tracks.
If I hadn’t managed to keep a straight face, I might have laughed at his audacity.
Yesterday, he was doing that with Sarah in our bedroom, saying those vile words, and he still had the gall to ask where I had been?!
I turned on the staircase to look at Tyler. His face was even more handsome than it had
been in high school,
but I would never again be deceived by his appearance.
He was like a shiny apple–beautiful on the outside, completely rotten on the inside.

Chapter 2
With righteous indignation, Tyler interrogated me: “Elizabeth, you have absolutely no sense With righteous indiquation. Tyler in
of what it means to be a wife. Who were you messing around with all night?”
I gave him one last disgusted glance and turned to go upstairs.
Furious, Tyler grabbed my wrist. “Not talking? You must have had a great time with your lover last night. Let me remind you who your man really is!”
As he spoke, he yanked me toward the stairs.
The sudden force made me stumble, and my knee slammed painfully into the edge of a step.
Clutching the railing tightly, I resisted his pull. “Tyler Horton, what the hell is wrong with
you? Let go!”
My resistance only seemed to provoke him further.
He pried my fingers off the railing, hoisted me over his shoulder, and stormed into the
bedroom.
He threw me onto the bed in just a few steps.
The bed still had the same sheets from yesterday!
I struggled to sit up, filled with disgust.
Tyler, however, flipped me over, pinning me down with his knee pressed hard against my
back.
Behind me, I heard the sound of his belt unbuckling.
I fought with all my strength, twisting to face him. My voice trembled with fury.
“Tyler Horton, don’t think I don’t know what you did on this bed yesterday!”
For a moment, surprise flashed across his face before he sneered.
“So what? Elizabeth, after what you did to Sarah, you should be prepared to atone for your
sins!”

I stared at him with biting sarcasm.
“You keep accusing me of being behind it all. Why don’t you go ahead and call the police? Let them investigate the truth!”
I struggled to get up, reaching for my phone.
Tyler lunged at me, pinning me down again. His hands tore violently at my dress.
lizabeth, don’t play the victim. If you get pregnant and give Sarah a child, I’ll let you go!”
The next moment, he forced himself into me.
A sudden, searing pain shot through me, leaving my mind blank.
“Tyler Horton, this is rape!”
He continued his movements, his breath hot against my ear as he said coldly,
“Rape? What right do you have to talk about rape? Where were you when Sarah was tormented by four beasts?
“What you’re experiencing now isn’t even a fraction of what Sarah endured!”
I bit down hard on my molars, but no matter how I struggled, I couldn’t break free.
Finally, when Tyler’s grip loosened and he turned me over,
I mustered all my strength and slapped him across the face.
He looked at me in disbelief before slapping me back even harder.
The force of his slap knocked me sideways onto the bed, my right ear ringing painfully.
Gripping my jaw, Tyler spat,
“Elizabeth, who the hell do you think you are to lay a hand on me?
“When you come crying to me tomorrow, don’t you dare regret this!”

With that, he dressed and left, his disdainful laughter echoing behind him.
I lay trembling on the bed, my body shaking uncontrollably.
Hatred burned fiercely in my chest.
A sharp pain pierced my lower abdomen.
Then I felt a warm flow between my legs.
Shivering, I sat up and saw a thin trail of blood staining my thighs–a vivid red.
I thought about how my period had been absent for two months, how I’d been nauseous lately.
A terrible realization dawned on me.
I was probably pregnant.
If I gave birth to this child, Tyler would undoubtedly take it away and give it to Sarah.
Clutching my stomach, I gritted my teeth.
I would never let them have their way.
