Chapter 9
At Meg Luxe’s global product launch event, I accidentally revealed my profile.
Half a day later, Ethan, dressed in black, stepped into the entrance of Meg Luxe’s studio.
I looked up from the design draft and met his dark eyes.
Tears glistened in Ethan’s eyes, and his voice trembled with excitement.
“Megan, you were indeed alive!”
“It has been three years, I have been looking for you for three years. Do you know how much I miss you, how much I want you to come back to me?”
“All the past events were my fault, it was my suspicion that caused you harm. In the future, I will definitely…”
Before he could finish speaking, I interrupted him.
“Ethan, forget it.”
“I already have a new life, and I don’t want to bring up the past anymore.”
Ethan’s pupils contracted abruptly as he met my icy gaze.
He immediately squeezed out a smile and anxiously pulled my sleeve to look at my arm.
“Megan, I knew about your illness. How are you now? Are you still getting injections?”
Snap-
I briskly shook off his hand and cautiously took two steps back.
Although the scars from the past have faded, it doesn’t mean that the person who caused me harm is entitled to insincere gestures.
The scorching heat and the warm hospitality of South East Aubrend had long healed my body and
mind.
Now I am happily chasing my dreams, seeing the patterns on my drafts turn into three–dimensional works, and gaining more and more sense of achievement.
I was no longer the one cowering under the Matthews family, trembling with fear that I couldn’t perform well as Mrs. Matthews‘ Megan.
I was born towards the sun, running towards the light as a newborn Megan!

The darkness of the past shall never invade my life again.
I called Ethan to be a security guard, and he heartlessly swept the floor and left.
But he just looked at me, his face full of determination.
“Megan, the future was long. I had confidence we would live happily again!”
From then on, Ethan began an endless entanglement.
Just as I was about to apply for a government arrest warrant to restrict his movements.
He held a little person in his hand, blocking my way.
“Yasmin, this is Mom, quickly call Mom!”
I stood still in place, looking at the young face in front of me that bore some resemblance to my
own.
After all, blood is thicker than water, and the natural motherly love made it impossible for me to resist her approach.
I couldn’t help but reach out my hand to hug Yasmin Matthews, and she suddenly burst into tears.
I was in a panic and didn’t know how to handle it. Ethan’s face sank and he pulled the child over to
scold him.
What’s wrong with you! You keep talking about wanting Mom every day, and now Mom is right in front of you, isn’t she? Call her!
His gloomy face scared his daughter, making her cry even louder, and she became even more afraid
to come near me.
I let out a sigh and clapped my hands as I stood up.
Perhaps our mother–daughter relationship is shallow, and there is no need to force it.
Ethan, on the other hand, was a bit at a loss. He held the child in his arms, soothingly whispering, and reluctantly watched me leave.
After the child’s strategy failed, Ethan came up with a new plan.
Suddenly, a lot of people started coming to patronize my business, and the sales of jewelry became increasingly prosperous.
But these people were obviously brought in by Ethan, they didn’t even look and just grabbed the

goods and left.
I politely declined their purchase and walked up to Ethan, saying, “Why do you have to insist like this? I design jewelry not for fame or profit, but for my own happiness.”
“My dream was for others to be genuinely happy to possess the jewelry I designed, rather than just for the sake of buying and selling.”
“Yasmin shouldn’t have stayed here, take her away and don’t come back.‘
Just as Ethan turned and left, Henry, who had been away on a business trip for quite some time,
returned to his home country.
We agreed to meet tonight at our usual place for drinks and a chat.
Henry, who has always been dressed casually, put on a formal suit tonight.
My heart skipped a beat, and I playfully teased him with a smile.
“What’s wrong? What’s the big occasion today?”
He stared at my eyes with a burning gaze, filled with surging emotions.
Henry hesitated for a while and unexpectedly pulled out a lollipop for me.
I laughed out in surprise, and eagerly bit into the long–lost sweetness.
In the mountains where Henry and I were born, lollipops were a rare thing.
Before I turned ten, I had only eaten it once.
It was a stick that Henry’s father brought back from Belith City for me. He secretly left it for me.
小
The sour and sweet taste, still deeply imprinted on my taste buds to this day.

The place where the teeth met was a cold, hard metal.
I took out an elegant pink diamond ring and my eyes turned red.
This was the first jewelry design I created during my college years.
The blueprint had long been lost, but it turns out Henry had been keeping it all along.
How long did the man in front of me love me?

Henry’s throat rolled, and he half knelt down, looking up at me.
“Megan, this was the twentieth year that we have known each other.”
“It was also the fifteenth year that I loved you.”
“Would you marry me?”
He was my childhood friend, as well as my savior, and from then on, we lived together until old age.
Just as I was about to nod, a group of men in black suddenly surrounded Henry and pinned him to the ground.
Ethan emerged from behind them, like a devil descending upon the earth.
He pinched my chin and forced me to look directly at him.
“Megan, you were really naughty. Just in a short while, you wanted to marry another man?”
“But unfortunately, there was no chance for it anymore.”
I let this man see with his own eyes how we were inseparable, full of tenderness and affection, like honey and spring night.
As the words fell, he viciously tore open my clothes.
