Chapter 3
Zachary had already left for the office, so I had to take a taxi to work. Just as I stepped
through the company doors, I overheard a few colleagues gossiping.
“The boss brought a woman to the office today. She looks like a celebrity, probably some big
influencer.”
“I heard she was the boss’s ‘white moonlight‘ from his school days. He’s stayed single all
these years just waiting for her–like a romance drama come to life.”
Evelynn, who has never gotten along with me, glanced at me with a malicious smile. “Now that the real girlfriend’s back, certain people will have to slink away. What good did it do to
scheme her way into the boss’s bed? The white moonlight’s back, and now she’ll have to
give way obediently.”
Zachary and I had a relationship that was an open secret in the company. Evelynn has always thought I stole her chance at being the CEO’s secretary and has targeted me ever since. I replied calmly, “If you want to try climbing into his bed, go ahead.”
Evelynn’s face twisted in anger, and she snapped, “Camila, who are you calling shameless?
Not everyone’s as desperate as you!”
At that moment, Zachary stepped out of his office, and everyone fell silent. He was on his way to a meeting and, passing by my desk, knocked on it. “Bring a cup of coffee to my
office.”
I pushed open the office door with the coffee in hand, only to find Gianna seated in Zachary’s chair, her lipstick slightly smudged, her gaze fixed directly on me.
“Miss Gianna, please enjoy.” I set the coffee on the desk and turned to leave, but her voice
stopped me.
“Secretary Brooks, is this how you usually dress to seduce Zachary?”
I glanced at my outfit–no cleavage, no bare midriff–wondering what she was fussing about. “If Miss Gianna has an issue with the company’s standard uniform, you can file a complaint on our website.”

Chapter 3
Her expression changed, her beautiful face twisted slightly with anger. “You’re nothing but
a cheap tramp anyone could buy. If you didn’t look a bit like me, do you think Zachary would even look at you?”
Ignoring her insults, I replied pointedly, “That’s something you should ask Mr. Cooper
about; he’s always had this kind of taste.”
Shortly after I left the office, Gianna claimed her necklace was missing and demanded to search my bag. I blocked her hand as she reached for it. “I didn’t take your necklace, and
ou have no right to touch my things.”
“If it wasn’t you, then who? You were the only one who came into Zachary’s office!” she
accused.
I replied calmly, “The office has security cameras. We can check them to find out.”
Evelynn stepped forward with a gleeful smile, “The cameras broke yesterday and haven’t
been fixed yet. I saw her sneak something into her bag just now–it must’ve been the
necklace!”
“What’s going on here?” Zachary had just returned from his meeting and saw a crowd gathered in the office.
Gianna stepped forward, looping her arm around his, and pouted. “Zachary, make
Secretary Brooks give my necklace back. It’s the gift you gave me, and I really like it.”
Zachary glanced at me, as if trying to read something from my expression, but my face
remained calm. After a moment, he looked away and, with a slight shrug, said dismissively, “It’s just a necklace. I’ll buy you another.”
Gianna’s face stiffened, a dark look flashing in her eyes.
Suddenly, Evelynn lunged forward, grabbed my bag, and triumphantly held up a pink
diamond necklace. “Mystery solved–she’s the thief!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, everyone in the office turned to me with strange looks in their eyes.
