Chapter 14: A Happy Ending
“Mommy! Daddy says to give this to you.” A little girl with Ethan’s eyes and Amelia’s smile skipped towards her, holding out a plate with a slice of mango cake.
Amelia took the plate, smiling at her daughter, Lily. “Where’s Daddy?”
He’s coming,” Lily chirped, pointing to the man standing at the entrance of the kindergarten playground. “He says those board meetings are boring and that he’d rather be
here with us.”
Amelia watched as Ethan walked towards them, his steps lighter, a smile playing on his lips. Gone was the shy, awkward boy she’d befriended all those years ago. He was now a confident, successful man, but his eyes still held the same warmth and kindness she
remembered from their childhood.
Taking Lily’s hand, Amelia walked towards him, her heart filled with love and gratitude. She had finally found her happy ending, right where it all began, in the Rose Room of their childhood kindergarten, now bustling with the joyful sounds of children’s laughter.
