Chapter 6: A Surprising Confession
The race was intense. Mark, she noticed, was driving more aggressively than usual, his every move aimed at intimidating Ethan.
Amelia held her breath every time their bikes came dangerously close, but Ethan seemed unfazed, effortlessly maneuvering past Mark.
When Ethan crossed the finish line first, Amelia rushed to congratulate him, handing him a bottle of water. He took off his helmet, his hair damp with sweat, and leaned down, his face
inches from hers.
“How did I do?”
Amelia laughed, reaching up to ruffle his hair. “You were amazing!”
The moment her hand touched him, she realized how intimate the gesture was. His face was flushed, and she felt her own cheeks burn.
Before either of them could say anything, someone bumped into Ethan, pushing him towards her. Amelia instinctively reached out to steady him, her arms ending up wrapped
around him.
The crowd erupted in cheers, confetti raining down on them. As Ethan accepted the trophy. he pulled Amelia closer, holding her hand, raising their joined hands in victory.
Above the roar of the crowd, she heard him whisper, “Amelia, I like you. I’ve liked you for a very, very long time.”
A long–forgotten memory flickered in the back of her mind. Could it be…?
