Love Story1–Chapter 1
Four years ago, my sister Emily and I married into the Abney family, miles away from
home.
I became Trevor’s wife, while Emily tied the knot with Stefan.
the brothers held high positions–one as the CEO and the other as the vice president of
Abney Group.
On paper, we’d hit the jackpot, marrying into a wealthy family.
But we both knew the truth: our marriages were doomed from the start.
We were in secret marriages, void of love and responsibility.
Dad thought we had found our soulmates. Even though he was sick, he endured an exhausting three–day journey on a Greyhound bus just to witness our happiness.
After begging at the door of the Abney mansion for an entire day, Trevor finally agreed to
throw us a fake wedding.
Yet, on the wedding day, the brothers were nowhere in sight.
Worried sick, I kept calling Trevor, but he rejected my calls multiple times before finally picking up.
He sounded annoyed:
“Can you stop bringing up your dad? Selena twisted her ankle. I need to take her to the hospital! And guess what? She got hurt because of you, Catherine! Can’t you be a little more understanding?”
Before I could respond, he hung up and blocked me.
Emily reached out to Stefan, crying and begging him to come to the wedding.
But he just shouted back on the phone:
“Why do you always overreact? It’s just a minor thing! I’m busy dealing with Selena’s hospital bills right now, so stop bothering me!”
The moment he hung up, Dad collapsed.
Emily panicked, cradling him in her arms, tears streaming down her face.
I was shaking all over, completely at a loss for what to do.
ur wedding was turned into a medical emergency for our father.
Emily and I accompanied our father in the ambulance to the hospital.
Outside the ER, we texted the brothers about our decision to divorce.
But as we looked up, we saw them strolling by with Selena, completely ignoring us.
Night had already fallen when we left the hospital.
Emily and I arrived home and, feeling exhausted, took off the rented wedding dress.
It had been eight hours since we sent the divorce message, and there was still no response.
Clearly, our marriage didn’t matter to them at all.
In these four years, whenever Trevor was with me, Selena would always find a way to interrupt with some drama.
It was either a sudden illness or a car breakdown.
مه
To the Abney brothers, every little thing was a major crisis when it came to Selena, while
we were treated like we were invisible.
Emily had cried to me countless times, and I had tried to communicate, but it always left us feeling heartbroken.
From the start, we were destined to occupy a humble role in this marriage.
As we packed up our things and Dad’s belongings, preparing to leave, they suddenly returned.
Selena followed them, sweetly waiting for Trevor to fetch her some tea.
The moment they saw us, their laughter cut off.
Trevor frowned, his voice filled with irritation as he asked, “Where’re you going? What’s all this fuss about? I thought I explained today’s situation?”
He stared coldly at my tired eyes, his tone growing more impatient.
His wedding was just for show. Selena got hurt; what do you want me to do about it? We can always have another ceremony later.”
Emily clutched my hand tightly, trembling slightly.
Stefan stayed quiet while bending down to get a tea for Selena.
Selena glanced at our packed bags, feigning innocence as she turned to Trevor.
“Trev, what’s going on with them? I twisted my ankle so I needed your company. I didn’t think it would be such a big deal.”
Then she turned to me, trying to explain,
“Cathy, please don’t be mad. I didn’t mean for this to happen. If anything comes up, just talk
to me–I’ve always considered you like a sister!”
Looking at the flimsy bandage on her ankle, I felt a wave of despair wash over me.
“I have a sister already; I don’t need you.”
Trevor’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing.
“What’s with that attitude? Apologize to Selena right now!”
“She’s hurt and still worried about the wedding–how can you be so selfish?”
I glanced at the fruit basket Trevor was holding and let out a bitter laugh.
“I’ve done right by everyone except myself. Let’s get a divorce; I’ve had enough.”
Love Story1 Chapter 1
Trevor was taken aback, seemingly unable to believe I’d actually suggested divorce.
Emily gathered her courage and said to Stefan, “I want a divorce too.”
We didn’t want to stay in this suffocating place for another second.
Stefan’s eyes widened as he raised his voice. “What did you just say?!”
Ignoring him, I pulled Emily to leave.
But as we passed by Stefan, he suddenly grabbed Emily’s arm.
