Antonio was stunned for a second, then he lunged, beating at the flames with his letterman jacket.
“You’re insane!”
After the flames were extinguished, the ashes between us looked like dead fireflies.
All the color drained from Antonio’s face.
I looked at him and said, “Congrats on your future wedding, Antonio. May it last longer than your hockey playoffs streak.”
That evening, Trista sent me two videos.

I trembled as I pointed to the door.
“Get out!”
Antonio got out of bed and stood barefoot on the ground.
He was two heads taller than me.
He looked down at me with a hint of anger.
“I shouldn’t have rejected Madison and come home back then!”
