Chapter 29
After completing the project at hand, I submitted my resignation letter.
When I walked out of the company’s gate, there was an indescribable sense of relief in my heart.
Over the years, I was constantly busy with work and hardly had any time to pause and think about what I truly wanted.
Now, I finally decided to do what I have longed for.
I called my parents and told them about my decision.
On the other end of the phone, the mother remained silent for a few seconds, then smiled and said, “As long as you are
happy, that’s all that matters.”
Father also agreed, “Yes, while young, go and try more.”
Their support made me feel warm inside, as if I had finally let go of my last worry.
After hanging up the phone, I turned on the computer and started planning the next itinerary.
The first thing, I wanted to go to Saryville to relax.
There was Noman Mountain Union Lake, there were ancient city alleys, and there was the tranquility and freedom that I had always longed for.
A few days later, I carried simple luggage and embarked on a

journey to Saryville.

When the plane landed in Delain, a cool breeze blew in the face, and a faint floral scent filled the air.
I took a deep breath and felt much lighter.
In Delain, I found a quiet inn to stay at.
Every morning, I would take a walk on the cobblestone streets of the ancient city, watching the sunlight spill onto the old eaves and listening to the distant sound of bells.
In the afternoon, I would sit by the Union Lake, holding a book, occasionally looking up to see the ripples on the surface of the lake.
On the third day of my stay in Delain, I wandered through the narrow alleys of the ancient city, just as I usually did.
The sunlight filtered through the leaves and scattered on the ground, creating dappled light and shadow that made me feel particularly calm.
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from behind: “Grace?”
I was stunned for a moment, turned around, and it was actually Charlie.
He stood not far away, holding a cup of coffee in his hand, with a hint of surprise and a smile on his face.
“How did you get here?”
I was a little surprised, and a ripple of disturbance stirred in my calm heart.

He walked over and shrugged his shoulders.
“I heard that you came to Saryville, so I followed.”

I furrowed my brow, somewhat puzzled. “How did you know that I came to Saryville?”
He smiled and his eyes seemed to dodge a little, “You posted on Instagram, I saw it.”
It was only then that I remembered, a few days ago I did indeed post a photo of Union Lake.
I didn’t expect that he would come to find me on purpose.
We walked side by side on the cobblestone road in the ancient city, chatting about our recent situations.
Charlie told me that he had been having a rough time at work recently and wanted to go out and relax.
I nodded and didn’t ask any more questions.
Walking to a quiet corner, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, turned his head to look at me, with a serious expression in his
eyes.
“Grace, actually I came here not just to relax.”
My heart tightened, and I vaguely guessed what he wanted to
say.
“Over the years, I never forgot about you.”
His voice was soft, yet every word was clear.
“Once I found out about your divorce, I wanted to come and

see you, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity again.”
I lowered my head, feeling a bit confused in my heart.
To be fair, Charlie was a hundred times better than Antonio, both in appearance and character.
What’s more important is that we have known each other since we were young, and he has been incredibly kind to me.
However, I had just come out of a failed marriage and was not ready to accept new emotions yet.
“Charlie, I…” I hesitated for a moment, but decided to speak
- up.
“I didn’t want to start a new relationship so soon; I needed some time to figure out what exactly I wanted.”
He remained silent for a few seconds, then nodded and said calmly, “I understand.”
“I could wait, wait until you are ready.”
I looked up at him, his eyes still gentle, without a trace of coercion.
I felt a bit sour in my heart, but I also knew that the present me really couldn’t make any promises to him.
“Thank you.”
I whispered.
He smiled and reached out to ruffle my hair, just like when I was a child. “Let’s go, I’ll take you to eat something delicious.”

I nodded and followed him forward.
I nodded and followed him forward.
The sunshine remained warm, and the wind still carried the fragrance of flowers.
I knew that some things took time, and Charlie was willing to wait for me.
