Chapter 19
I carried my luggage, big and small, downstairs and hailed a taxi casually.
The driver helped me load my luggage onto the car, and I provided the address of my new home – The Arbors, a newly developed residential area in the city center.
The car slowly entered the residential area, and I looked around through the car window. The greenery was well done, and the spacing between the buildings was spacious. It looked good.
The elevator stopped on the seventeenth floor, and the moment the door opened, I froze.
Charlie was standing at the elevator entrance, holding a shopping bag, clearly having just returned from outside.
He was wearing a simple white shirt, with the sleeves casually rolled up to his elbows, revealing his strong forearms.
Those pitch–black deep eyes, in the moment they saw me, also flickered with a hint of surprise.
“It was you!”
I couldn’t help but blurt out, with a hint of surprise and embarrassment in my voice.
Charlie obviously didn’t expect to meet me here. He raised an eyebrow slightly and his gaze fell on the luggage piled at my feet.

The tone was calm but with a hint of mockery: “So you are the new neighbor next door?”
I was stunned for a moment, then I quickly realized, “You also live here?”
He nodded and pointed to the door at the end of the corridor, “1702, right next to you.”
It was only then that I realized that we had actually become neighbors.
Charlie’s gaze swept over the large and small packages in my hands, and his eyebrows slightly furrowed. “You just moved in, so you must have a lot of things to organize. Let me help you.”
I subconsciously wanted to refuse, after all, our relationship was somewhat delicate.
But upon second thought, since we were already neighbors, we would inevitably run into each other in the future, so there was no need to deliberately keep our distance.
So, I nodded and said, “Then I’ll trouble you with that.”
Charlie didn’t say anything more and directly bent down to pick up the two heaviest suitcases, walking towards my new home with swift movements.
I followed behind him, watching his broad fig e, feeling inexplicably complex in my heart.
As Charlie entered the room, he set down his luggage and looked around the empty living room. He asked, “How do you plan to decorate it?”

I shrugged my shoulders, “I haven’t decided yet, let’s tidy up the things first before we talk.”
He nodded and didn’t ask any more questions, starting to help me unpack and organize.
We worked together in perfect harmony, with him being responsible for moving heavy objects and assembling furniture, while I took charge of organizing clothes and small items.
During the process, we occasionally chatted, mostly about the environment and facilities of the new residential area, and the atmosphere was quite relaxed.
I was busy until noon, and finally the house looked a bit better.
I wiped the sweat off my forehead, glanced at the time, and made a suggestion.
“Charlie, I really troubled you today. It’s just about mealtime, so let me treat you to a meal as a thank you for your help.”
He glanced at me somewhat unexpectedly and then smiled.
“Since you have spoken up, of course I have to give you this face.”
We tidied up a bit and then left together.
There was a well–reputed restaurant near the neighborhood, which could be reached within a few minutes‘ walk.
The restaurant was not crowded, and we found a seat by the window.

Chapter 19
The waiter handed me the menu, and I casually flipped
through a few pages. I looked up and asked Charlie, “What would you like to eat?”
He shook his head and said, “You choose, I don’t mind.”
I ordered several signature dishes and handed the menu to the waiter.
After the waiter left, the atmosphere between us suddenly became quiet.
I lowered my head and fiddled with the cutlery on the table, feeling a bit nervous and unsure of what to talk about next.
Charlie seemed to notice my uneasiness and took the
initiative to break the silence, “Did you move here because of a divorce?”
