Chapter 13
I blocked Ethan on every platform.
The public fallout was immense, and he remained in a coma for weeks.
His company faced a crisis and eventually declared bankruptcy.
I didn’t hear any news about him until three months later.
The Ethan family found me, saying he had finally woken up and the first person he wanted
to see was me.
I refused outright, unwilling to have any more to do with him.
They pleaded incessantly, lowering themselves until I reluctantly agreed to meet him one
last time.
In the VIP suite of a private hospital, I finally saw him again.
Ethan sat on the hospital bed, his face pale and his body frail, as though a gust of wind
could blow him away.
Though he survived Ryan’s attack, he was left permanently paralyzed, confined to a
wheelchair for life.
Seeing me, his dull, lifeless eyes lit up.
“Anna, you finally came to see me,” he rasped.
I remained emotionless.
“Speak your piece.”
My cold indifference startled him.
“Everything that happened before was my fault. I was wrong to hurt you.”

and keep you safe.”
“Anna, I truly wanted to marry you. I really love you. You’re the only one I’ve ever loved.”
“Can you forgive me?”
His eyes pleaded with me.
“No,” I said firmly.
The light in his eyes instantly dimmed.
“You loved me so much before. Is there really no chance to start over?”
I frowned slightly.
Did he still think an apology could erase everything?
Did he think I was so pathetic as to forgive someone who deceived and hurt me?
“Absolutely not. Stop clinging to me like a dog–it’s annoying.”
“It’s best if we never see each other again.”
Leaving him pale and speechless, I turned and walked away without looking back.
I would never forgive him.
For myself, I would move forward and start anew.
