Chapter 10
Ethan had been distracted these past few days.
When we were together, he often seemed lost in thought.
After dinner one evening, I suggested we take a walk.
He was quieter than usual, answering only when I spoke first.
As we walked, he failed to notice a car speeding toward him.
When he finally realized, I had already thrown myself in harm’s way to push him out, both of us tumbling to the ground,
He frantically pulled me into his arms, his voice laced with panic.
“Anna, are you hurt? We need to get to the hospital.”
Instinctive reactions don’t lie.
At that moment, I was certain–he truly cared about me.
At the hospital, after a thorough examination, I was told I had no major injuries–just minor
scrapes.
However, the doctor noted a mild concussion and advised me to stay overnight for
observation.
“Anna, I’m so sorry. It’s all fault
my
you got hurt.”
He held my hand, his face filled with guilt.
“Don’t be silly. We’re about to be married–there’s no need for apologies.”
“I’d do anything for you,” I said with a gentle smile, trying to reassure him.
His guilt deepened as he heard my words.
His gaze held no concern–only indifference.
After a few polite exchanges, I said I wanted to rest.
Ethan escorted Liam out.
By the doorway, Liam’s tone carried vindictive satisfaction.
“She deserved it–serves her right!”
“Shut up!”
Ethan’s voice dropped, but his anger was unmistakable.
“She got hurt saving me.”
Liam frowned in dissatisfaction.
“Ryan’s condition is getting worse. You’d better not go soft on her.”
“You used to hate Anna so much you wanted revenge. This plan was your idea.”
Ethan’s eyes darkened.
“The breakup was Ryan’s fault. Anna shouldn’t be blamed for it.”
“Hah. So you’re telling me you’re not going through with it?”
A hint of coldness flashed in Liam’s eyes.
“If you won’t act, then I’ll handle it myself. I’ve got my own methods.”
“Don’t you
dare!”
Ethan raised his voice sharply, locking eyes with Liam.
After a pause, he added,

“I’ll leave her. Don’t interfere with my plan.”
Liam gave him a long look.
“Alright. I’ll trust you on this, Ryan’s been our brother for over a decade. Don’t screw this up.”
shipped back to the hospital bed quietly, checking my phone.
Sarah had messaged me.
“Anna, I made sure to hire the best driver for the job. You’re not hurt, are you?”
I replied, assuring her I was fine and that everything had gone according to plan.
The car accident had been staged.
No one could resist the selfless act of a lover risking their life for them.
Not even Ethan.
He wavered.
It proved he truly had feelings for me.
Perfect.
When he finally realizes everything was a lie,
I can’t wait to see the look on his face.
