Chapter 23
They were getting closer and closer, and when their breaths met, Erik turned his head and gently placed Ann’s head on his shoulder.
By late at night, Ann had fallen asleep on his shoulder, and only then did he carefully move her to
the bed.
Before turning off the lights, he softly wiped away the tears in the corner of her eyes. Just as he was about to leave, Ann suddenly grabbed his hand.
“Stay with me. Don’t go. Please?”
His heart skipped a beat, feeling like something inside him had been touched.
He leaned down, kissed her forehead gently, and then intertwined his fingers with hers. “I’m staying with you. I’m not going anywhere.”
The sunlight streamed through the curtains, and Ann instinctively reached up to block it, but then she felt someone holding her from behind.
She turned to find Erik sleeping soundly beside her.
Ann stared at the man in front of her, his features so smooth and well–defined, looking sharp and good–looking. She couldn’t resist reaching out to gently trace his face.

Just then, Erik opened his eyes, and they locked eyes. Neither of them said anything, but their
breaths became deeper.
Erik smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Did you sleep well last night?” he asked.
Ann smiled sweetly and replied, “I slept well, and felt really at ease.”
After that, neither of them brought up what had happened between them, but their relationship
became more intimate.
For example, he would now tell her about his upcoming schedule.
“Why are you suddenly going back to the country?”
Ann looked up at him, confused.
From what she knew, Erik’s business was mostly abroad, with only a few things in his home country. Since Erik’s parents started traveling, they had handed over their local businesses to professionals. So, she didn’t know why he was suddenly going back.

Erik noticed the worry in Ann’s eyes. He smiled and pulled her into his arms.
“Don’t worry. I’m expanding a new business in the country. I need to go back for the opening ceremony, and also, I’ll help you get back at that guy who hurt you,” he said.
Ann clenched his shirt. Since Jeremy’s affair, Erik was the first one who would help her get revenge.
“Honestly, I don’t care about him anymore. He’s been punished. Letting go means not caring about him, and I don’t want his actions to affect my mood anymore,” said Ann.
Erik pulled her closer and said with sincerity, “Ann, all I want is for you to be happy and calm. I don’t want you to suffer anymore.
“You are the most important person to me.”
