Chapter 2
Vera and her twin sister both suffered from a rare genetic disease. She was healthier because she
had absorbed more nutrients in the womb than Elsa did. All these led to partiality in her life.
Throughout her life, she was neglected and blamed by her parents. To the Perry couple, Elsa always
came first.
In her teens, Vera had chased after Robert Carter, her first love, for three years. She had to give up
when her twin sister showed interest in Robert.
When she was heartbroken, Jeremy approached her with a cute Doraemon doll and promised to stay
by her side forever, just like the doll.
Vera thought that she finally found a person who loved her. After she accepted his proposal, she accidentally overheard a conversation between him and his buddies.
“Why will you marry Vera when you love Elsa?”
Jeremy’s low voice was tinged with a hint of drunkenness. “This is the only way to help Elsa. If I don’t keep Vera by my side, nobody can save Elsa from an attack of her sickness. Vera’s blood is the
best tonic for Elsa.”
Jeremy’s buddy couldn’t help but sigh. “You have loved Elsa for years. To save her, you intend to marry a woman you don’t love at all. Is it worthwhile to sacrifice your whole life for her?”
Jeremy’s voice was low but emotional. “As long as Elsa stays alive, I am willing to do anything.”
Outside the room, Vera felt a chill down her spine, and her knees got weak.
At that moment, she finally knew that the five–year pursuit, softness, and tonics were lies. To help
Elsa with her blood was Jeremy’s only goal.
That night, Vera drank a lot of alcohol and cried all night long.
Throughout her life, her parents favored Elsa and showed her no love.
For the sake of Elsa, she was forced to give away the boy she had loved.
Even her so–called true love, Jeremy, turned out to love Elsa.
Everyone loved Elsa, and nobody cared about Vera.
On that day, Vera decided.
She decided to disappear from this world since nobody loved her. She would start her new life with a completely new identity in a corner where no one knew her.
From then on, the Perry family and Jeremy would become unrelated to her.
