Chapter 19
With the help of the system, she lived in this seaside town with a brand–new identity. She was running a well–paying tavern, drinking alcohol, and enjoying freedom at the same time.
She had a brand–new name here, called Ann Yale.
Ann liked this name and also enjoyed life here. The people here lived a simple and carefree life.
Here, no one would deceive her into drinking bitter tonic in the name of love anymore. She could eat all kinds of delicious food according to her mood.
Her life was now free and interesting. She would mix a smooth drink for guests when the sea breeze blew, chatting with them. Through these conversations, she would discover fascinating things she had never encountered before. When she met like–minded companions, she would enthusiastically
invite them to drink and dance.
Gradually, the people in the small town came to know that the owner of the seaside tavern was a beautiful and kind–hearted lady who was easy to get along with.
“Ann.” A familiar voice came from behind, and Ann turned around joyfully to look at the person
who had arrived.
“Erik.”
Erik handed her the rose in his hand, then bent down slightly and affectionately touched Ann’s
head. His gesture made her blush instantly.
“I just want to come and see you.”
Even after all this time, Ann still couldn’t accept Erik’s love for her.
When she first arrived there, she felt a bit lost. Suddenly leaving a place where she had lived for over twenty years and coming to an unfamiliar city made her feel adrift and often lonely.
That was the time when Erik entered her world. He took her to every corner of this small town,
gradually helped her familiar with it, and slowly established herself in this small town. With that,
she had her customer base.
As time went by, the two of them gradually developed feelings for each other while spending time
together day and night, but they never took the next step.
Ann didn’t know for sure if she had truly moved on from the emotional pain that Jeremy had caused her. She was unsure if Erik would always be consistent in his feelings towards her, and she didn’t dare to gamble.
And she was also unwilling to waste her time on suspicion, to gamble on the outcome of a new

relationship.
Ann felt that the present situation was quite good.
Erik also knew about her experiences and understood her reluctance and fear of getting hurt again.
But he didn’t keep his distance from her either. Instead, he stayed by her side in a way that would
make her feel more comfortable.
“Didn’t you say before that you wanted to eat grilled meat? I have all the ingredients for grilling ready. Let’s go, come to my house now for a barbecue party,”
As soon as Ann heard the words “barbecue“, her mouth couldn’t help but salivate. She quickly took out her favorite wine from the wine cabinet. Ann walked side by side with Erik on the soft beach, with the dim yellow sunset shining on both of them. The two slender shadows seemed to be cuddling each other, and even the footprints on the beach seemed to be closely following them.
“I just casually mentioned that I wanted to eat barbecue, but I didn’t expect that you prepared all of
this for me.”
There was no big supermarket in this small town. To buy suitable barbecue ingredients, Erik had to drive for four hours to a bigger city to get them. It was hard to imagine that he would go through all the trouble just for her simple words.
Erik smiled lightly, revealing his attractive dimples, saying, “You want to eat barbecue, and I happen to want to eat it too. Don’t worry, I didn’t drive so far just for you.”
Ann understood Erik’s insincere words, but she didn’t expose him. She smiled and said, “Okay, I
know.”
They walked up to a villa, and Erik opened the door for Ann to enter first. Then, he took out a pair of cute slippers from the shoe cabinet and said, “Princess, please change your shoes.”
Ann was a little shy when she received the shoes and was about to bend down to put on the slippers, but unexpectedly, Erik took a step faster than her.
When his thick hands touched her feet, she felt her face turn red. Erik pretended not to notice the blush on her face. He said to himself, “A princess should not lower her head.”
Ann’s eyes flickered with a hint of confusion. Before she could ask, Erik softly said, “Because the
crown would fall.”
The sudden playfulness instantly lightened the atmosphere.
Ann felt that the boy was even more interesting than she had imagined.
The table was filled with sizzling and oily aroma as the meat was being grilled. Ann couldn’t help

but want to take a bite of the mouth–watering grilled meat. Just as she was to take a piece, her mouth was immediately filled with a mouthful of grilled meat.
The marbled pork belly dipped in a secret barbecue sauce, danced with its aroma on the tip of her tongue, making her unconsciously smile.
Erik looked at her gently and then said, “You eat, and I grill it.”
Ann nodded and took out the cocktail utensils, preparing a drink called “Sunset Glow“, which had a
very appealing shade of yellow–orange.
“This is a new wine that I recently invented. Give it a try.”
Erik put down the barbecue tong in his hand and took the wine from Ann, “Then I will give it a try.”
The flavor was soft, clear, and sweet, which made him feel refreshed.
“It tastes really good. I like it a lot.”
Upon hearing Erik’s praise, Ann felt relieved. They drank wine and ate grilled meat together until
late at night.
At that moment, the alarm clock that Erik had set in advance rang. He shook Ann, who was slightly tipsy, and gently supported her head with his hand, making her look towards the sky.
“Ann, look, a meteor shower.”
Ann looked up. In the deep and tranquil night sky, a bright light like a nimble elf cut through the darkness, Immediately after, countless shooting stars seemed to be scattered by an invisible hand, trailing brilliant tails as they fell one after another. They resembled silver threads and fireworks, weaving a dreamlike web of light.
She was shocked by the beautiful scene and couldn’t recover for a long time. If it weren’t for Erik gently waking her up, she would have missed the best time to make a wish.
Erik looked at the girl in front of him, who was folding her hands together and making a sincere wish, and a smile appeared on his face.
He also imitated her, folding his hands together and closing his eyes devoutly to make a wish.
Ann asked him, “What wishes did you make? Can you tell me?”
Erik looked at Ann and gently said, “I hope Ann is always happy and joyful,”
