“The person who asked me to deliver the photos was a man,” the boy said.
“A man?” Suzy was surprised. “What kind of man?”
She had assumed it was a woman. To find out it was a man meant that Charlotte, aside from Mark and George, had yet another accomplice. She truly had sacrificed a lot to achieve her goals.
“Just a man…” The boy frowned, confused. Aren’t all men the same?”
Suzy took a deep breath. “There are young men, older men, and then there are kids like you.”
“I’m a boy, not a man!” The little one corrected her. “That person isn’t like me. He’s. an adult, so he’s a man.”
Taking another deep breath, Suzy asked, “So, was he young or old?”
“Not young, but not old either…” The boy thought hard. “Just a regular man.”
“So, you mean he’s middle–aged?” Suzy pointed to Allen nearby. “Was he like him?“(
“No!” The boy shook his head. “He’s a bit different from him.”
“Was he older or younger than him?” Suzy asked, silently marveling at her own patience. She couldn’t remember the last time she had this much patience for anyone. If it were someone else, she would’ve left them to figure it out themselves by now.
“Older than him.” The boy studied Allen carefully. “Because he had a few gray hairs, but his face didn’t look old. He looked young but also not so young.”
Young but not so young.
Alright. Suzy could see how this description might be challenging for a five- or six- year–old to articulate.
The man had chosen this little boy precisely because he was young and unlikely to provide a clear description even if he were caught.
“You mentioned he had a few gray hairs, right?” Suzy caught on to a key detail. ” Where were they?”
“Right here…” The boy pointed to his bangs. “There were several, really white ones!”

“Got it. You can go now.
“Really?” The boy’s face lit up with joy upon hearing he could leave.
Suzy found him amusing and decided to tease him. “What? You don’t want to go? That’s fine. You can stay a bit longer. I still have a few more questions for you!“.
“No way! I want to go home! My mom’s waiting for me!” He ran to Allen, tugging impatiently at his hand. “Uncle, please take me home! I don’t want my mom to worry!”
Allen, finding the boy adorable, gave his cheek a playful pinch. “I wonder if my son will be as cute as you.”
He was certain of it. Given his and Riley’s good looks, their child would surely be even more charming than this little guy.
However, he felt the need to offer some advice. “Listen, kid. If anyone ever asks you to do something strange again, make sure your mom reports it to the police.”
The boy looked up at Allen, his expression innocent. “Does it have to be my Can’t my dad do it?”

“This little rascal…” Suzy couldn’t help but laugh, her tense mood lightening thanks to the boy.
After sending him off, Suzy immediately began investigating the man based on the boy’s description.
