Chapter 0582
Diana admitted her mistakes earnestly and apologized sincerely to Elliot. “You’re right, and I promise I’ll never do something like that again. My sister isn’t my brother’s possession. She shouldn’t have to waste her life on him.”
“Do you really mean that?”
Despite Diana’s seemingly genuine tone, Elliot remained skeptical. The stark difference in her attitude over such a short period was hard to believe. It wasn’t just him–anyone would question such a sudden shift.
Diana understood his hesitation. If the roles were reversed, she wouldn’t have trusted someone after just a few words, either.
Hiding the flicker of her true emotions, Diana quickly nodded. “Yes, I mean it. If you don’t believe me, I’ll swear on it.”
She raised three fingers in mock solemnity. “I, Diana Wright, swear that if there’s even a shred of dishonesty in what I just said, I’ll remain single for the rest of my life!”
Not that I plan on getting married anyway, she thought to herself.
Faced with such a dramatic vow, Elliot could only relent. She’d gone so far–what more could he say?
Accepting the fork she handed him, he picked up a bite of the spicy beef she had prepared.
“How is it? Does it taste good?” Diana asked anxiously, her expression almost childlike in anticipation.
Elliot glanced at her and nodded. “Not bad.”
“Really?” Diana beamed, her face lighting up with delight. “If you like it, I’ll make it for you more often!”
The shift in his expression was immediate, and Diana quickly realized how her words might have been misunderstood. She waved her hands in alarm. “Oh, don’t get the wrong idea! I don’t mean anything by that.”
Elliot took another bite of food, his tone calm but pointed. “Better not.”
Diana chuckled softly. “Come on, I know you’re into my sister. Chasing after you would be setting myself up for failure.”
She studied him for a moment and then added with a sly grin, “But I’ll give you this. You’re a much better match for her than my brother ever was. First off, you’re closer to her age. Second, you’ve never done anything to hurt her. And my brother…”
Her expression shifted to one of distaste as she sighed. “The way he treated her over the past three years? Even I, his own sister, can’t forgive him for it, let alone my sister.‘

Chapter 0582
The more Diana badmouthed her brother, the more Elliot seemed to enjoy it.
And it worked. Diana’s words clearly hit the mark, and Elliot looked visibly pleased. “You really think that?”
“Absolutely!” Diana nodded enthusiastically, like an eager accomplice. “So don’t worry. Not only will I stop trying to convince my sister to get back with my brother, but I’ll also help you!”
“Help me?”
“Yes!” Diana replied with conviction. “I just want my sister to be happy. Whether that’s with my brother or not doesn’t matter to me anymore.”
To prove her sincerity, Diana whipped out her phone and called Suzy.
“Hey, Sis,” Diana said brightly when Suzy answered. “I know I haven’t called you in a few days. I’ve been doing some thinking. And you know what? Your student isn’t half bad. He seems to really care about you. Why not give him a chance?”
Elliot was speechless.
He’d thought she was bluffing, but she was dead serious!
At that moment, any lingering doubts Elliot had about Diana’s intentions melted away. She wasn’t just all talk; she was really on his side.
Completely at ease now, he finished every single dish Diana had brought, three dishes and a soup gone in no time.
Watching him eat, Diana felt a secret wave of satisfaction.
No matter how capable Elliot was, he was still just a kid a year younger than her–easy to manipulate when needed!
