Chapter 36
Valencia’s POV
“Mother and child?” I repeated, staring at Raiden, my voice bardy a whisper.
DOSE
Raiden nodded, his expression grave. “To be completely honest it’s a miracle you survived the birthing process. A wolf’s or a human’s body isn’t made to birth eggs, and yet you did. Now, I’m sure you’ve already felt the connection with your egg?
I glanced down at the precious egg nestled securely in my lap. Its shell shimmered faintly under the soft glow of the room’s lights. That connection–the invisible thread between us–was undeniable. I nodded.
“That’s because your lifeline is tethered to it,” Raiden explained, his voice steady but weighted. “If something happens to the egg, you will be in danger.”
My stomach churned, anxiety pooling in my chest. “What if I get sick or hurt instead?” I asked, the thought making me tremble slightly,
Raiden shook his head. “That
r the child. The connection is primarily one–sided in that sense. The child can survive without the mother, but if something happens to the egg” He paused. “The mother will suffer the consequences. Sometimes irreparably.
The thought gave my solacé. It meant that if something happened to my egg then I would die alongside him. And if something ended up happening to me, my baby could still live long and healthy life.
I stared at the egg, my heart thudding dully in my chest. “That’s good,” I murmured quietly.
Dante’s sharp voice cut through the air. “Good?!” His bloodshot eyes glared at the egg as though it had personally offended him
My protective instincts flared immediately. Hugging the egg tighter, I snapped, “Don’t scare
him!”
The egg trembled faintly, as though responding to my words. Dante’s glare softened, but the tension in his posture remained.
From across the room, Calus snorted. His amusement was short–lived as the room’s collective glares settled on him.
Raiden sighed, gesturing for everyone to leave. “It’s late. We should all rest for now. Tomorrow, we’ll discuss what needs to be done moving forward.”
As the room cleared, I remained seated on the bed, my grip still brm around the egg. Dante lingered behind, his arms crossed as he leaned against the doorframe.
“You’re not leaving?” I asked, trying to keep the irritation out of my voice.
“This is my room, Valencia, Dante said matter–of–factly, his tone bordering on amused. “Of course I’m staying.”
I pulled myself off the bed only to be stopped by his looming figure in front of me parthing me back down
I groaned, feeling an unexplainable sense of irritatioh bubbling up within me.
“Your body hasn’t completely healed. It’s safer for you to stay with me….”
My heart fluttered, remembering what had happened earlier. Though his memories were fragmented due to me going in and out of consciousness, the feeling of his warm skin against mine was vivid. I wasn’t completely sure what he’d done, but i knew that he’d healed me

Chapter 36
In my adrenaline rush earlier I hadn’t realized how much I had bed while..laying the egg. And only later, once I had calmed down, did I realize that I didn’t even have the energy to keep my eyes open.
I
I looked at his ocean blue eyes filled with sincerity and the apprehension I had felt
carlier bled our of me slowly. I sighed,
Without another word, I placed the egg between us on the bed like a barrier, “Fine. But don’t cross this line.”
Dante raised a brow, his gaze flicking to the egg before settling on me. “You’re putting our child between us as a boundary?”
“Yes,” I said firmly, refusing to back down.
A moment later, I yelped as Dante moved swiftly, flipping me over and pulling me snug against his chest. The egg floated to the side, seemingly unaffected by his actions.
“You don’t get to make the rules here,” he murmured against my ear, his tone low and possessive,
Butterflies fluttered in the pit of my stomach and I felt my face heat up against my will. Well, what’s the worst that could happen? Couldn’t I let my guard down for just one night?
I huffed in frustration, finally making a decision. I had thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep with someone sleeping so close to me but exhaustion quickly overtook me. There was a niggling feeling in my chest that I was forgetting something important. But despite my annoyance; Dante’s warmth was oddly comforting. Hugging the egg tightly, I soon fell asleep.
When I woke, the bed beside me was empty. I looked up and around the massive bedroom. A ware of panic surged through me when I realized the egg was gone.
My heart raced as I bolted upright, scanning the room frantically. “No… no, no, no.” The air felt too cold, the marble floor beneath my bare feet sending chills up my spine as I stumbled toward the door.
Throwing it open, I sprinted into the hallway. “Dante!” I shouted my voice echoing off the grand walls.
A maid rushed toward me, her face etched with concern. “Miss, you shouldn’t-
“Where’s Dante?” I demanded, cutting her off. “And where is my baby?”
Before she could answer, heavy footsteps sounded behind me. Dante appeared, his expression a mix of anger and concern. Without a word, he scooped me up, cradling me in his arms as though I weighed nothing
“What the hell were you thinking?” he snapped, his voice low but harsh. “Running around barefoot on cold marble like
“Where is he? Where’s my baby?” I asked, ignoring his scolding
He carried me to a different room, kicking the door open to reveal a large, circular glass cot positioned beside the bed–It was covered with intricate carvings and faintly glowed, radiating a getitle warmth.
Inside was the egg.
I blinked, relief washing over me, but it was quickly replaced by anger. “You could have told me!”
“You were sleeping.” Dante said, his tone clipped.
“So you just got up and took my child without even telling me?!
He stared at me, his expression deadpan “He’s my child too, you know.”
I opened my mouth to argue further, but the arrival of a butler interrupted us.

Chapter 36
Dante ordered for the glass cot to be bought as he walked out of the room and back to our room.
Ε
“Put me down,” I said, but he didn’t listen immediately, only setting me down on the silk bedsheet of the king sized bed.
The cot was slowly carried by two butlers and set right beside the bed and the tension in my chest eased as I moved closer and rested my palm against the warm outer shell.
I smiled softly as I felt the egg shake slowly, “Good morning”
As the butlers left the room a maid entered and my smile froze. She entered the room carrying a familiar wedding dress draped over her arm.
My breath hitched at the sight, panic gripping me like a vice. Memories of my past life flooded my mind.
“What is that?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Dante frowned, his brows knitting together. “It’s your wedding dress.”
My heart pounded violently against my ribs. “Why?”
“Did you forget?” Dante asked, his torfe calm but firm. “You’re going to marry ine.”
I shook my head, my voice trembling. “But you said you don’t force marriage on Omegas.”
Dante’s lips curled into a dangerous smile, his golden eyes glinting. “But you aren’t just any Omega, are you? You’re the mother of my child now. Of course, I will marry you
The finality in his words made my stomach churn. I felt trapped, my breath coming in shallow gasps.

Dante’s smile faded as he noticed the fear in my expression. He pursed under his breath, running a hand through his dark hair. “Am I really that abhorrent to you?”
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes. “I-,” I stammered, shaking my head. It wasn’t him. It was the memories, the fear of history repeating itself.
Dante’s jaw tightened, his voice low and resolute. “Well, it doesn’t matter. Even if you hate me now.. you are mine”
His words hung heavily in the air, leaving no room for argument
“The wedding is at eight. Be ready by seven.”
He turned and walked out, leaving me to stare after him, my heart pounding in my chest.
