“I want to!” Allen replied urgently. “Riley asked the the same question, and I already told her that no matter what, even if there’s no baby, I still want to marry her.”
“Is that really the truth?” Suzy pressed.
“Of course!” Allen answered without hesitation. I’ve never taken this lightly. When I say I want to marry her, I mean it from the bottom of my heart.”
“Is that your heartfelt truth, or are you just saying it to convince me so I’ll help her keep the baby? You know the answer better than anyone, Suzy countered.
Riley, who had stayed silent until now, finally spoke, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Allen, we haven’t just met yesterday. I know your every move and expression better than you know yourself. Let me make this clear one more time I’m not marrying you, and I’m not keeping this child.”
With that, she turned to Suzy. “Boss, can you prescribe me something to terminate the pregnancy?”
“Have you really thought this through?” Suzy asked, her tone firm and steady. “This child isn’t just Allen’s, it’s yours. It’s a part of you, sharing your blood. Even if you choose to keep it, there’s no rule that says you have to stay tied to Allen. The decision is entirely yours to make.”
Riley’s hand instinctively went to her stomach. Though it had only been a little over a month, and she couldn’t feel anything yet, she was aware of a new heartbeat–a life.
As Suzy said, this child wasn’t just Allen’s; it was hers too. How could she bear to give it up?
Like Allen, she had grown up without a happy family. The arrival of this child brought her joy and hope. With this baby, she would never again feel alone in the world.
She truly wanted to marry Allen. But the thought that he might only be proposing because of the baby was like a fishbone stuck in her throat–sharp, painful, and impossible to ignore.
Why was she feeling this way?
Everything she had once wanted most was now within her reach yet doubts and fears clouded her heart.

“Don’t say anything for now,” Suzy interrupted gently. “Take some time to cool off.”
She then turned to Allen. “Make sure Riley gets safely back to Ashbourne City. And you–use that time to clear your mind and figure out what it is you truly want.”
Suzy had everything arranged and was fully prepared for her own journey, so Allen and Riley had no reason to argue.
They silently boarded the helicopter.
Once they were gone, Suzy climbed back into the car and sped off eastward.
As for her father’s whereabouts, it wasn’t true that she had no leads. She had her suspicions
but had never shared them with anyone–not even her brother, Simon.
He was newly married, and she wanted him and his wife to focus on building their relationship, perhaps even expanding the Frost family soon.
As for everyone else…
Just as she had told Allen and Riley, her father was her responsibility. He had no connection to them, and there was no need for anyone else to get involved.
