Her hand froze halfway to her mouth, the lo mein slipping slightly between the chopsticks. She quickly cleared her throat and focused on her plate, choosing not to respond.
Liam’s gaze lingered on her before he continued. “Besides, that’s going to change soon.”
“What?” What will change soon?
“You, not knowing a lot of things about me,” Liam
answered without batting an eyelid.
Her chopsticks paused mid–air again. She glanced at him briefly tempted to ask what he meant. But something in the way he looked at her made her hesitate. She decided to let it go, focusing instead on her food. She turned away and cleared her throat. “So, do you do this often?” she asked, changing the subject.
“Do what?” he asked, picking up a piece of broccoli.
“Surprise women with takeout dinners under the stars,” she said, smirking as she gestured toward the setup.
Liam wasn’t just attractive–he had the physique of a model and the face of a god. It was easy to imagine women flocking to him wherever he went, both locally and abroad. The thought unexpectedly irritated her, and she found herself frowning slightly.
Catching herself, she quickly shook off the feeling and silently scolded herself. Why on earth did it matter? His dating history had nothing to do with her.
Liam smirked as he leaned back in his chair, casually picking up another dumpling. “Not, in the past,no. But soon, I’ll be doing this more often.”
Izzy frowned, setting her chopsticks down. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He met her gaze without hesitation. “You’re my only woman. Since you like this, I’ll make sure it happens more often.”
Her cheeks warmed unexpectedly, and she quickly picked up her water, taking a sip to mask her reaction. She placed the glass down and glared at him. “Are you trying to flirt with me, Mr. Horvath?”
Liam didn’t miss a beat, his smile widening slightly. “What if I was? What would you do about it?”
Izzy scoffed. “I’d tell you to stop wasting your time. I’m not one of those women who swoon over a simple dinner.”
Liam’s smirk deepened. “Good thing I’m not trying to make you swoon. I just want you to enjoy yourself.”
Izzy stared at him, caught off guard by his confidence and the way his words made her heart skip a beat. She quickly shook her head and grabbed her chopsticks again, pretending to focus on her food. “You’re ridiculous,” she muttered, but the faint blush on her cheeks betrayed her.
Liam chuckled softly, watching her with an amused expression. If you say so.”
Izzy refused to look at him, keeping her eyes firmly on her plate, but the heat rising to her face refused to go away.
“I have a flight tomorrow to Macau. I might not be able to go back home for a couple of days. Please tell Grandfather that I’ll come back after five days,” Izzy said, her focus shifting back to the view as she attempted to steer the conversation away from Liam’s teasing.
“Don’t worry about him,” Liam replied, picking up another piece of broccoli with his chopsticks.
Izzy paused, glancing at him. “When is the remodeling of your house going to be done? The sooner we move back, the

better. I could really use my own room again.”

Liam’s eyebrow lifted as he set his chopsticks down, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes. “You’re that eager to have a separate bedroom from me?”
Izzy’s glare returned instantly, but this time, she found herself unable to respond. Her lips parted slightly as if to retort, but no words came out.
Liam smirked, clearly pleased by her reaction. He leaned back in his chair, watching her squirm under his gaze for a moment before chuckling. “Finish your food. The sooner you’re lone, the sooner you can get back to your precious work.”
His words snapped Izzy out of her thoughts. She shook her head lightly and lowered her gaze to her plate, focusing on the remaining lo mein.
As they ate in silence for a few minutes, Izzy couldn’t help but notice the lightness in the air between them. Despite his constant teasing, Liam wasn’t a terrible company. In fact, the dinner felt… oddly comfortable. She chewed thoughtfully, realizing that maybe being around Liam wasn’t as frustrating as she’d once thought.
She stole a quick glance at him, finding him focused on his food as if he hadn’t just been pushing her buttons moments ago. With a faint sigh, she returned to her meal, the warmth on her cheeks lingering stubbornly. For some reason, this warmth continued until Liam drove her back to the office.
“I guess I’ll see you when I get back from Macau,” she said before she got out of the car. This time, she didn’t wait for him to
answer,
The very next day, Izzy and Anna boarded the plane to Macau.
“Miss, here’s our boarding pass. Both of us will have business class seats,” Anna said as she handed Izzy the boarding pass along with her passport. Not long after, the boarding started.
The moment Izzy stepped onto the plane, a flight attendant greeted her with a smile. “Miss Rossi, you’ve been upgraded to first class,” the attendant said, motioning toward the forward cabin.
Izzy raised an eyebrow but quickly brushed it off. “I see. Probably because of my points and VVIP status,” she muttered to herself.
Anna, who stood beside her, looked up from her boarding pass. That’s great, Miss Rossi. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine in business class. You should enjoy the upgrade.”
Izzy glanced at her assistant. “Are you sure?”
Anna nodded. “It’s a 15–hour flight. You’ll need to be comfortable. I can handle myself.”
With a small nod, Izzy turned and followed the attendant toward first class. Anna was right. Since there was no direct flight to Macau, they had to do a layover at another airport. They would need 15 hours to reach Macau. And since she had already been tired from her all–nighter, she needed all the rest she could get.
Soon enough, she arrived at the first–class section. The cabin was spacious, with fully reclining seats and private pods. She settled into her seat, adjusting the settings for comfort.
As she leaned back and fastened her seatbelt, she thought she heard a familiar voice coming from the next cabin. Her brow furrowed as she tilted her head slightly, trying to make sense of it. It sounded like Liam.
“Impossible,” she muttered under her breath, shaking her head. She leaned back and closed her eyes for a moment, trying to convince herself that the stress from the project was getting to her. Was she starting to hallucinate from too much stress?
But the voice came again. This time, it was clear and distinct. Her eyes snapped open, her pulse quickening as a chill ran down her spine. It couldn’t be him… could it?
