Suzy nodded thoughtfully. “Exactly. She’s the same with me–clearly knows who that woman is, but no matter how I pressed her, she refused to say anything. It’s as if she’s deliberately protecting her.”
Dylan shared the same impression. “That woman treated her so poorly, yet she still defends her. It means that woman holds significant weight in her life. For someone to earn that kind of loyalty, it’s either a very close friend or…”
“But we’ve already looked into it,” Suzy interrupted. “Evangeline has good relationships with all her close friends and family. Especially her half–sisters, they get along well. The only one she ever had issues with was Helena, but Helena is dead.
“There were even rumors that Evangeline was the one who killed Helena. But after digging deeper, I found no evidence linking her to Helena’s death. It had nothing to do with her.”
Suzy suddenly thought of a possibility. “What if Helena isn’t actually dead? Like Charlotte and Claude before, what if it’s all a façade?”
“It’s possible,” Dylan said decisively. “I’ll have Desmond look into it right away.
“If Helena really is alive, then everything would make sense. After all, Helena was once the Empress. Even if Evangeline knew she was behind everything, she wouldn’t tell us. It would compromise Xandria’s reputation.”
She paused, frowning slightly. “But there’s one thing I still don’t understand. What’s my connection to Evangeline?”
At that, Dylan reached into his pocket and pulled out a small transparent bag. Inside was a vial of blood. “Here. This is Evangeline’s blood. Take it and compare it with your DNA.”
“How did you get this?” Suzy asked, surprised. “I haven’t been gone that long–just an hour or two. How did you manage to do something I couldn’t?”
Dylan smirked, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. “As you suggested–just take it straight
from the source.”
“You’re kidding.”
“I am,” he replied, laughing softly. “Evangeline holds a high–ranking position. The hospital keeps a supply of her blood on file for emergencies. It wasn’t that hard to access.”
“How did I not think of that?” Suzy muttered, feeling a bit exasperated with herself. “If I‘ just gone straight to the hospital, I might’ve already had the results by now.”
Dylan raised an eyebrow. “So, what’s your plan now? Are you staying here, or do you have something else in mind?”

Suzy looked at Dylan and said firmly, “Of course, I’m staying here. That lunatic is still waiting for my response. If I leave now, she’ll never let it slide. Speaking of which, when you leave, make sure to act like you’re really upset–like Evangeline refused to let me go no matter what. Play it convincingly, or that lunatic won’t believe a word of it!”
Dylan gave her a knowing look. “She probably won’t believe it anyway. You caused such a scene earlier. It’s completely out of character for you. It doesn’t match your usual style at all.”
“Can’t I be desperate for once? She’s been pushing me to my limit, so I decided to go all out. Either way, the rest is up to you. Whether she believes it or not depends on how well you sell it.”
Suzy then added, “Oh, and have someone bring me a few medical ingredients.”
Dylan’s expression shifted to concern. “Are you feeling alright?”
“No,” Suzy replied, shaking her head. “It’s for the DNA test. You don’t always need fancy lab equipment–there’s a traditional method that works just as well.”
Dylan frowned slightly, intrigued. “What kind of medical supplies do you need?”
Suzy rattled off a list, and without hesitation, Dylan left to make the arrangements. Before long, the medical ingredients were delivered, and Suzy got to work, skillfully using the supplies to compare her blood with Evangeline’s.
