She quietly entered Orion’s hospital room and saw his pale face, feeling a twinge of sorrow. Orion must have lost a lot of blood.
Lemira gently held Orion’s hand, feeling its coolness. She felt distressed, “Orion, you need to get better soon. I shouldn’t have dragged you into this. After all, you’re just an ordinary guy, no match for those rich folks. I’m sorry!”
Carefully, she rested his hand against her cheek, “Orion, can you wake up, please?”
“In the middle of the night, you’re here by my side, crying like this. Anyone would think I’ve turn to a vegetable.” Lemira froze, and then turned to see Orion’s eyes open, his profound gaze twinkling with amusement.
She awkwardly let go of his hand. Stuttering, she spoke, “You’re awake. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”
“No.”
“But you’ve been asleep the whole time.”
“I was just too tired and fell asleep.”
Seeing Orion’s condition wasn’t too bad, Lemira felt a bit relieved, “Seeing you awake makes me feel better.”
“You’ve hurt
your
forehead?”
Orion noticed the bandage on her forehead, looking concerned.
Lemira shook her head, “It’s something trivial. Compared to your injuries, a scar on my forehead is nothing.”
“It looks not good for a girl having a scar on the forehead.”
Lemira’s breath hitched, “During the crash, why did you turn the wheel? You could’ve avoid getting hurt so badly.”
After she spoke, they locked eyes, neither breaking the silence. Lemira hadn’t been sleeping well, but now, seeing him awake, she didn’t know what to say.
Orion’s gaze was clear, “Because I didn’t want you to get hurt!”
He wouldn’t let her be harmed in the crash again!
Lemira, flustered, looked down, “Since you’re awake, I’m relieved. You should rest now.”
Turning, she left the ICU, her heartbeat racing. Lying in her hospital bed later, Orion’s face and the crash scene filled her mind.
Then, another crash from long ago played in her dreams, only in fragments. She dreamed she was trapped in a car, and it was Orion who rescued her.
Waking up, Lemira found tears at the corners of her eyes.
It had been a long time since she dreamed of that old accident. Maybe because of the influence of this recent crash, Orion was unexpectedly in her dream; she assumed these two scenes must have been blended.
Just then, Lemira’s phone rang. Picking it up, she answered, “Hello? Who’s this?”
“Lemira, which hospital are you at? Lucian wants to come visit.”
“I’m fine, really. I’ll be even better without you.”
Alaric hesitated before asking, “You mentioned this isn’t over, do you still have evidence?”
He wanted to know. And he wanted to see the evidence.
