“I’ve thought it through, of course!” Charlotte snapped. “But why don’t you let go of me
first?”
“Fine, I’ll let go,” Hawk said, releasing his grip. “Go ahead–let’s hear it. I want to know who’s been helping you from the shadows.
As soon as he said this, he leaned in close, speaking low enough for only her to hear. “I already know where he is. If you don’t want Suzy finding out, think very carefully about what you say next.”
Charlotte’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Hawk didn’t seem to be bluffing. He was the only one who knew her darkest secrets. Which meant… he probably wasn’t lying.
Clenching her fists tightly, Charlotte pivoted. Looking at Suzy, she smirked. “If you want to know, find out for yourself! You’re so capable, aren’t you? Go ahead and figure it out!”
“Charlotte!” Suzy’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Still playing games? Fine. Guards!”
Charlotte’s voice sharpened with panic. “If I die, you’ll never know who he is. You can spend your entire life wondering!”
Despite her defiance, Charlotte was terrified.
Over the past few days, Suzy had ordered her guards to treat Charlotte the same way her mother had been tortured–letting filthy, disease–ridden beggars have their way with her, over and over again.
The humiliation and pain were excruciating, far beyond anything she’d imagined. She had believed herself impervious to suffering, but the reality was far more devastating than she ever anticipated.
Even so, Charlotte held firm. She couldn’t afford to reveal Hawk’s secret. If she did, he would undoubtedly tell Suzy the rest of what she knew, and the consequences would be catastrophic.
After weighing her options, Charlotte gritted her teeth and resolved to endure. She wouldn’t let Suzy uncover the truth, not ever.
Suzy hadn’t expected Charlotte’s resolve to be this unyielding. Days of relentless torture hadn’t broken her, not even when Suzy threatened to destroy her face.
“Charlotte, do you really think that man truly cares about you?” Suzy sneered. “Look at you now. He hasn’t even lifted a finger to save you. For all you know, you mean as little to him as Mark did to you–a mere pawn in his game.”

The man behind Charlotte might very well be the true mastermind.
After all, Suzy’s father, once the wealthiest man around, must have drawn the envy of others. Someone could have easily manipulated Charlotte, pushing her to act.
To exact real revenge, Suzy needed to uncover the man’s identity. Only then would justice. truly be served.
“Whether I’m just a pawn, I know better than you!” Charlotte sneered. “As I said, if you want to know, figure it out yourself. If you’re capable, then find him. If not, that’s your problem, not mine.”
“Fine,” Suzy said coldly. “If that’s how you want it, I won’t waste words on you anymore.”
She picked up a scalpel and held it in her hand, her expression unreadable. “You ruined my mother’s face back then. Now it’s time for you to feel what it’s like to have your face peeled away, piece by piece.”
With that, she made a deliberate cut from the corner of Charlotte’s left eye, dragging the blade downward.
“Aahhh!”
The searing pain made Charlotte scream in agony.
“Charlotte,” Suzy said icily, tilting the scalpel in her hand, “this is your last chance. Make it count.”
Charlotte’s laughter was wild and unhinged, her eyes filled with defiance. “Kill me! If you’ve got the guts, just finish me off!”
“Can’t take it already?” Suzy grabbed Charlotte’s chin, her voice calm yet menacing. “You tortured my mother for twenty years. I told you that I’ll make you pay for every moment of her suffering, a hundredfold. You want to die? Not so fast.”
Without another word, Suzy delivered several more cuts, each one deliberate and merciless.
Charlotte’s screams echoed through the room, horrifying to anyone who heard, but Suzy’s hand didn’t falter. When she was finished, she left Charlotte bleeding and trembling, paying no attention to her state.
Instead, Suzy calmly pulled out a vial and fed her a newly developed poison.
The agony from the drug would feel like her bones were being slowly eaten away. Suzy leaned back, watching coldly.
