Chapter 4
The next morning, I woke up with a heavy head. The room was warm, with a man’s suit jacket draped over me.
“Awake? I got breakfast and left it on the table. Eat it while it’s warm; if it’s cold, let me know, and I’ll get you a fresh one.”
A message from someone named “Winston” popped up on my phone.
I’m a notorious lightweight and had no memory of last night. All I remembered was Winston coming down from the stage and being quite popular. Judging by things, it seemed he had brought me home.
I replied, “I’m up. Thanks for taking me home last night.”
After some hesitation, I asked, “Um… nothing happened between us, right?”
He replied instantly.
“You don’t remember kissing me in the elevator last night? No plans to take responsibility?”
Internally, I screamed, “What kind of terrible drink did I have?!” I quickly closed the messaging app, switched my phone to airplane mode, and tried to forget the embarrassing
incident.
But Winston wasn’t about to let it slide. That evening, after leaving the studio, he showed up.
at my place, “Vivian, open the door.”
I shakily opened the door, apologizing right away, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
Winston didn’t seem upset by my boldness. Instead, he broke into a smile, “All right then,
give it back to me
now.”
Then he leaned down, his warm hand on the back of my head, “So, are you taking responsibility or giving me another kiss?”
I wrapped my arms around his neck. “Hurry up, I’ll give it back, and then we’re even….”

Winston pulled me closer, kissing me until I was breathless. He gave a slight pinch af my waist, gritting his teeth, “Heartless girl. Even? I moved halfway across the world from Seattle to Munich to keep my sanity because of you. You’ve already gotten to me, Vivian; there’s no ‘even‘ between us for the rest of this life.”
