“Of course!” Hawk replied proudly. “She agreed herself.”
“Your talent for making things up really knows no bounds.”
He knew full well how much Suzy disliked Hawk–it was clear as day. Suzy had even told him personally that she wouldn’t choose between him or Hawk. If he didn’t stand a chance, Hawk definitely didn’t either.
Hawk smirked faintly. “Believe it or not.”
His confident demeanor made Dylan hesitate for a moment. Coupled with the fact that Suzy had been staying here recently, doubts started creeping into his mind.
His expression darkened, and he shoved Hawk aside, striding quickly upstairs.
As he reached the second floor, he ran into Suzy, who was just stepping out of her room.
It had only been a few days since he last saw her, but to Dylan, it felt like centuries had passed.
Her leg was still bandaged, but judging by her walking, it seemed she had almost recovered.
Suzy had heard voices downstairs earlier, one of which sounded a lot like Dylan.
She figured if Dylan was coming over in the middle of the night, it was unlikely to be for a friendly visit. Hawk had only just recovered a little…
It wasn’t that she was worried about Hawk, but if something happened to him again, she’d‘ have to stay and take care of him, wasting more of her time. That was why she had come
out to check.

Dylan looked terribly frail, not much better than Hawk had been. Was he injured too?
Even though Suzy could tell something was off about Dylan’s condition, she didn’t think it had anything to do with her.

With that thought, Suzy spoke coldly. “Dylan, what’s gotten into you? Running over here in the middle of the night like this–don’t you have anything better to do?”
Her displeasure was clear, and Dylan felt another pang in his chest. “I came to see you!”

Suzy’s expression remained impassive. “There’s nothing between us. Why are you looking for me?”
Dylan pointed at Hawk. “And what about him? There’s nothing between you and him either, so why are you staying at his place?”
Suzy frowned, irritated by Dylan’s accusatory tone. “Where I stay is my business. You have no right to interfere!”
“Exactly!” Hawk chimed in, stepping forward. “She can stay wherever she wants. She doesn’t need her ex–husband’s approval!”
“My conversation with her has nothing to do with you!” Dylan snapped, his sharp gaze piercing as he glared at Hawk.
Hawk pouted dramatically and turned to Suzy with a pitiful expression. “Junior…”
A grown man acting so childishly–how revolting! Suzy cringed inwardly but didn’t say anything. Instead, she used it as an opportunity to side with Hawk and target Dylan. “This is his house!”
“You’re actually taking his side?” Dylan’s chest heaved with emotion. “So, it’s true, then? You really agreed to be his girlfriend, just like he said?”
As he asked this, Dylan felt as if his heart were being torn apart.
Suzy had anticipated Hawk showing off in front of Dylan, so his question didn’t surprise
her.
Thinking of Dylan’s persistent pursuit of her…
She knew she would never go back to Dylan. Regardless of whether his feelings for her now were genuine, there was no possibility between them. She couldn’t let him keep wasting his time on her.
After all, he carried the responsibility of continuing the Wright family line, and Grace was growing older by the day.
With that thought in mind, she didn’t hesitate to nod. “Yes!”
