The message stated they had found a DNA match for Tanya.
When Suzy opened the file, her eyes landed on the attached photo. The resemblance was striking–the woman looked almost identical to Tanya!
She looked more like Tanya than even her late aunt, Charlotte, ever could.
Without wasting a moment, Suzy dispatched a team to track the woman down.
This time, the process was smooth. The target was quickly located in a remote town. Not only did they find the woman, but they also discovered Charlotte’s stolen body.
It turned out the woman had been the one to steal it.
Her name was Ruby Andrews, a poised and elegant forty–five–year–old woman. When she met Suzy, she showed no hint of panic.
On the contrary, she appeared calm, almost amused.
Her eyes scanned Suzy with a calculating look, and a small smile played on her lips. “You look so much like your mother.”
Suzy wasted no time. “So, you admit it. You’re the one who killed my family.”
Ruby’s gaze flickered briefly before returning to its composed state.
She smiled and nodded. “Yes, that was me.”
Suzy’s eyes narrowed, her voice steely. “Why?”
Ruby’s expression softened slightly as she turned her gaze away, her tone becoming almost wistful as she began to explain. “Because I look so much like your aunt, your father once hired me to be her double. It was during a time when your aunt was in danger. I was supposed to take her place and shield her from harm.”

She paused, her voice calm but deliberate as she continued. “It was a dangerous situation, and I was gravely injured. Despite the fact that I was only a stand–in, your father, being the honorable man he was, didn’t abandon me. Instead, he stayed by my side in the hospital, personally ensuring I was cared for.”
A faint smile tugged at her lips, tinged with something bittersweet. “It was during that time that I developed feelings for him–feelings I couldn’t control.”
“I knew he had a wife and children,” Ruby said, her voice trembling with emotion. “But I couldn’t control it. The way my heart raced every time I thought of him.”
Her expression darkened, her tone turning bitter. “I loved him to the point of madness. I found excuses to be near him, hoping he’d notice me. At first, he didn’t. But secrets can’t be kept forever.”
She paused, her eyes clouding with rage as she continued. “When he realized how I felt, he not only rejected me, but he also wanted to send me abroad. No matter how much I begged, he wouldn’t show even a shred of mercy. He told me he’d never love anyone but his wife. Especially not me.

Her lips twisted into a cold smile. “That single sentence made me hate him more than I ever thought possible. If I couldn’t have him, I decided to destroy him instead.”
Ruby exhaled sharply, her gaze shifting as she recalled the events. “But I couldn’t do it alone. So, I turned to his closest friend, Mark Goodwin. I’d crossed paths with Mark before and could tell he had feelings for me. I manipulated him, seduced him, and eventually became pregnant with his child.‘
A cruel laugh escaped her lips. “Then I staged everything. I made it look like your father tried to assault me and told Mark the story. What man wouldn’t lose his mind at the thought of the woman he loved being violated, especially by his best friend? Enraged, Mark took up a knife and slaughtered your entire family at your birthday party.”
As Ruby finished, her gaze finally returned to Suzy, calm and unwavering. “That’s the truth of what happened. I’ve told you everything.”
Suzy stared at her, cold and calculating, a single question forming in her mind. “If you hated him so much, why didn’t you go after my aunt?”
