Chapter 0298
Victor always tried to
onvince himself and others that the only reason he helped Nadia
was because he didn’t want to lose her as free labor.
Dylan used to think the same way. But after falling for Suzy, he finally understood that Victor was exactly like him.
There was no point arguing with someone who wasn’t ready to face their feelings, so Dylan shifted the topic. “Any movement from the Goodwin family lately?”
“Nothing,” Victor replied, lounging on the couch with one leg crossed over the other. “I’ve got to say, Martin Goodwin really is an old fox. We’ve been watching him for ages, and there’s not even a hint of anything suspicious. Could it be he has nothing to do with the Frost family massacre?”
“If he didn’t, Suzy wouldn’t be so persistent about it.”
“Or maybe she’s barking up the wrong tree,” Victor countered. “You used to be more rational than this. Looks like love really does make people blind.”
Dylan cast him a sharp glance. He didn’t say anything, but the displeasure in his eyes was unmistakable.
Victor shrugged. “Fine, fine. Bros before hoes, right? But in your case, it seems to be the other way around. Whatever your woman says must be true. I’ll keep watching Martin and do my best to catch him slipping.
Standing up, Victor continued, “As for Hawk, I think you’re overthinking it. If he were really Claude, there’s no way his personality could change that drastically.
“Besides, we’ve investigated it thoroughly. Claude did have a twin brother who was abandoned as a child. And it’s true that Suzy’s mentor took in a boy around the same age. All the timelines match up.
Victor paused, his expression turning more serious. “That said, I do admit Hawk is suspicious. He didn’t show his face when Claude was alive, but now that Claude’s dead, this guy suddenly shows up in the spotlight.”
He stopped again, a thought crossing his mind. ‘Actually, if you really want to prove whether Claude is dead or not, it’s not that complicated. Just exhume the body and conduct an autopsy.”
Dylan had considered that option before.
But he knew how much Claude meant to Suzy. No one understood that better than him.
That was precisely why, despite suspecting Hawk’s identity, he had refrained from taking
action.

Suzy already had enough reasons to dislike hir If he disturbed Claude’s grave, the consequences would be unimaginable.
But if he didn’t go through with it, exposing Hawk’s true identity would be nearly impossible.
After a moment’s thought, Dylan turned to Victor. “Make sure it’s done discreetly.” Victor smirked knowingly. “Dylan, did you ever imagine you’d end up this henpecked?”
Suzy was just a woman. Why was Dylan so afraid of her?
That same night, Victor led a team to Claude’s gravesite.
“Sir, Dylan sent people to the gravesite,” Hawk’s informant reported.
Hawk smiled coldly. “I figured he’d try this move eventually. Looks like I was right.”
“Should we stop them?”
Hawk shook his head. “No need. Let him do what he wants. If anyone’s going to interfere, it shouldn’t be us.”
The informant, who had worked with Hawk for years, quickly caught on. “I’ll notify Miss Frost right away.”
Hawk nodded. “She’s too sharp to fall for anything obvious. Keep it natural.”
“Understood.”
While Dylan and Hawk continued scheming, locked in their battle of wits, a bombshell dropped that neither of them had anticipated.
At midnight, headlines exploded with shocking news: Suzy Frost had just announced her engagement to Allen Wheeler.
