Chapter 0238
Anne fought to keep her composure. “Suzy, I have no idea what you’re talking about. If you’ve got a problem with me, just tell me straight. There’s no need to beat around the bush.”
Suzy sneered. “Oh, in that case, I won’t bother with pleasantries.”
She grabbed Anne by the hair and dragged her toward Lisa, who had stood up from the couch the moment Suzy entered. Suzy’s voice was cold as ice. “Lisa, you’ve been with me for years. You know my temper. Are you really going to keep silent, just like her?”
Lisa bit her lip, hesitation flickering in her eyes
Finally, she dropped to her knees in front of Suzy. “I’m sorry, I betrayed you!”
“Why?” Suzy’s gaze burned crimson, her voice sharp and demanding. She needed to know what had driven Lisa to betray her.
Lisa glanced briefly toward Allen and Charlotte before lowering her head again. “About a week ago, Anne came to me and asked for my help with something. She said if I didn’t agree, she’d have me killed…”
Anne’s expression darkened, her brow furrowing deeply. “You’re lying. I don’t even know you.”
At that moment, Anne finally understood the purpose of this stranger’s visit.
Her thoughts shifted to the man who had always kept his face hidden from her. Could he have sent this woman to frame her for failing to carry out his plan?
With this suspicion in mind, Anne turned to Suzy. “Suzy, don’t listen to her nonsense. I don’t even know this woman, let alone do the things she’s accusing me of. Someone’s clearly behind this, trying to set me up and turn you against me.”
“Is that so?” Suzy’s cold gaze shifted back to Lisa. “Who should I believe? You or her?”
Lisa looked up, her voice trembling with guilt. I’m telling the truth. If she hadn’t threatened me, I would never have betrayed you! I owe you my life. Without you, I wouldn’t even be here today. I’m sorry… I failed you.”
“Shut up!” Anne snapped, her anger boiling over. “Before Suzy showed up, you barged in out of nowhere. I asked you several times who you were, and you refused to answer. Who’s really behind this? Who sent you here to drive a wedge between me and her?”
Before Lisa could finish, Charlotte strode over and confronted her. “Do you dare swear that every word you’ve said is the truth?”
Lisa glanced at Charlotte and nodded solemnly. “I swear, every word I’ve just spoken is

true,”
Slap!

The sharp crack of the slap echoed through the room as Charlotte struck Lisa across the face. “If I’d known you were such a coward, I never would have put you by her side. I placed you there to protect her, not to become a weapon for someone else to use against her!”
“I’ve failed!” Lisa’s voice shook with guilt. “I betrayed my benefactor and broke the trust you placed in me.”
“If you’re feeling so guilty,” Charlotte snapped, tossing a knife at Lisa’s feet. “Then take full responsibility and pay with your life.”
Suzy opened her mouth to stop her, but before she could say a word, Lisa picked up the knife and plunged it into her own chest.
Lisa crumpled to the floor, her unblinking gaze locking onto Suzy’s, heavy with an intensity Suzy couldn’t fully understand.
For a fleeting moment, Suzy wondered if it was her imagination, but she felt as though Lisa’s final look held a deeper meaning.
Allen’s brow furrowed sharply as he stared in disbelief at Lisa’s lifeless body, his snapping to Charlotte in shock.

Lisa’s sudden death sent Anne into a spiral of panic. The sight of her lifeless body on the floor filled her with dread, fearing Dylan wouldn’t arrive in time to save her from the same
fate.
In her desperation, Anne screamed, “Suzy, I’m pregnant with Dylan’s child! If you dare touch me,
he won’t let you get away with it!”
