Suzy remained firm. “No! It wasn’t an illusion. He’s real!”
“But if there really was someone,” Allen countered, “it’s been days. How could we have found nothing? Maybe the smoke made you hallucinate, and you thought someone saved you when, in reality, you escaped on your own. Not just the medical staff, but others at the scene also said they saw no one.”
Suzy fell silent.
Could it really have been a hallucination?
Never mind. Whether it was real or not didn’t matter now. What mattered was…
“Get me discharged.”
Before Allen could respond, Charlotte’s voice suddenly rang out. “You’re not fully recovered yet! How can you leave the hospital?”
Her eyes were red as she rushed in and grabbed Suzy’s hands. “I was supposed to attend the banquet that day, but I got a tip about the culprit’s whereabouts. I chased after it, only to realize it was just a distraction. I had no idea this would happen to you!”
Her expression was filled with guilt as she held Suzy’s hand tightly. “Thank God you’re okay. If anything had happened to you, I wouldn’t want to live either!”
“It’s just some minor injuries,” Suzy said quickly. “I’m fine now, see? Alive and kicking. Allen, help me get discharged.”
Charlotte blocked her again. “Before you say that, you should look in a mirror and see what you look like right now. You’re not leaving until you’ve fully recovered!”
“I’m really fine!” Suzy protested. “Besides, there’s something more important I need to do.”
Charlotte pressed her hands firmly on Suzy’s shoulders. “What could possibly be more important than your life? Right now, the most important thing is for you to rest and recover. Leave everything else to me.”

Allen chimed in from the side, agreeing, “Exactly. You can’t leave the hospital yet. Leave everything to me and your aunt. We’ll find the culprit as soon as possible!”
No matter how Suzy tried to argue, Charlotte and Allen refused to let her be discharged. Charlotte even assigned people to guard her room, making sure she couldn’t slip away.

At around 1 a.m., Suzy quietly changed out of her hospital gown and slipped out of her room. She moved carefully, avoiding detection, but just as she stepped out of the ward…
She saw him.
The masked man.
It wasn’t her imagination. He was real.
The moment he saw her, he turned abruptly and walked away at a brisk pace.
He was fast, but Suzy wasn’t slow either. She immediately gave chase.
As they raced through the corridors, his speed only increased, and Suzy pushed herself to keep up. Her body still needed rest–otherwise, she would have caught up already.
Ignoring the discomfort in her body, she pursued him relentlessly, all the way to the hospital rooftop. There, she finally managed to corner him.
“Who are you?” she demanded, her voice sharp. “Why did you save me, only to avoid me like this?”
