After reading through the information, Suzy’s brows furrowed deeply. “Mark is innocent?”
“It seems so,” Charlotte replied. “Ever since you revealed your identity, I’ve been secretly investigating him. It turns out someone’s deliberately setting him up to take the fall. As for who that person is, I haven’t uncovered it yet.”
Suzy wasn’t convinced. “Could it be that someone is working to clear the Goodwin family’s name on purpose?”
Charlotte’s expression shifted slightly.
“I doubt it. I’ve been personally tailing Mark nearly around the clock and I haven’t noticed anything suspicious. He hasn’t had any contact with questionable individuals, except for one late–night meeting with your unreliable ex–husband. Other than that, everything seems normal.”
Pausing for a moment, Charlotte added, “If Mark really is involved, then Dylan is just as suspicious.”
Suzy’s gaze darkened. “I already have someone investigating Dylan.”
“If Dylan is tied to what happened back then…” Charlotte locked eyes with Suzy. “What do you plan to do?”
Suzy stared at her for a moment before answering firmly, “Then he’ll pay the price. No matter who it is–if they’re connected to what happened, they’ll face the consequences they deserve.”
Charlotte smiled faintly. “Looks like you really don’t love Dylan anymore.”
Suzy shrugged and was about to respond when Charlotte interrupted her. “Hawk isn’t a bad kid. I hear he’s interested in you. And since you’ve never been able to forget Claude, well… he is Claude’s twin brother. You could think of him as a stand–in-”
“Stop right there!” Suzy quickly cut her off. “Aunt, you just said earlier that no man is reliable, and women should stand strong on their own.”
“That’s me. You’re you,” Charlotte countered. “You’re still in your twenties. You’ve spent your whole life driven by vengeance. Are you planning to let that define the rest of your life too?

Suzy nodded firmly. “Yes.”
Charlotte smirked. “Alright then. After you’ve had your revenge, marry Hawk, and I’ll help take care of your kids.”
“There are plenty of men in the world. Why on earth would I marry him?” Suzy rolled her eyes. “And for the record, I only ever saw Claude as a brother. Even if Hawk looks exactly like him, it doesn’t give him any advantage with me.”
Charlotte was speechless.
Since Suzy had been drinking, she decided not to return to the Harlow estate and stayed at Charlotte’s place for the night.
