Chapter 0149
Thinking it was a staff member, Suzy quickly shut her laptop and slipped behind the door just before they entered. She wasn’t afraid of being caught, but it didn’t hurt to show a little respect for the official personnel.
But as the door opened, she realized…the visitor seemed even sneakier than she was.
Was that person sent by the culprit?
Maybe tampering with the dashcam wasn’t enough to set their mind at ease?
It had to be. No one would be skulking around here in the middle of the night for no reason.
With that thought, Suzy waited until the person’s back was turned, then kicked him hard. As he hit the floor, she pressed her foot onto his back. “Who sent you?”
Victor, pinned underfoot, grimaced.
Just his luck!
He’d only come to check if someone had messed with the dashcam, and here he was, caught in the act. He was the heir of the Steele family–if word got out about this… And if Nadia ever found out…
All of this because of that damn “T“!
Normally, she’d respond to his messages, but this time, it was radio silence. If she didn’t want to take the job, she could’ve just said so instead of ignoring him completely, even declining his calls!
He was sure he hadn’t done anything to tick her off lately.
What now–should he come clean?
After a moment’s thought, he decided honesty might get him out faster. “Dylan Wright sent me.”
“You work for Dylan Wright?” Suzy raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
If Dylan wanted to look at the dashcam footage, he could’ve sent someone openly. It wasn’t about his status; he was Diana’s brother. Family members were entitled to updates
on the case:
She pressed her foot down harder. “I’ll give you one last chance to tell the truth.”
Suzy hadn’t recognized Victor’s voice because he was lying facedown, and his voice was muffled, not to mention he was nursing a slight cold after a spat with Nadia earlier. His tone had changed enough to mask his usual sound.
Victor was exasperated. “I am telling the truth! Dylan really did send me to investigate who

attacked his sister. You know that some things can’t be investigated openly, so we have to
“Ahh! That hurts!” he yelped as Suzy pressed her foot onto his neck.
This woman had to be Nadia’s long–lost sister they were both equally ruthless!
Suzy cased up a little. “Ready to be honest now?”
“Damn it, I’ve been telling you the truth from the start! What more do you want?” Victor’s frustration spilled over. “And who the hell are you, anyway?”
At first, he’d thought she was a staff member, but now it was clear she wasn’t. No one on the late shift would be this dedicated in the middle of the night.
If she were just an employee, he could’ve swallowed his pride and let it go, given his own suspicious behavior here.
But if she wasn’t…
A dark grin flashed across his face, and with a burst of strength, he pushed himself off the ground, reaching for Suzy’s neck.
But she was ready, kicking his outstretched arm.
Victor retaliated, swinging his leg in her direction, and in no time, they were locked in a fierce exchange of blows, punching and kicking as they fought.
In the midst of their brawl, someone hit the switch on the wall, and the dark room was suddenly bathed in light.
Both froze, surprised by the sight of each other.
Victor’s shock was evident. “It’s you?”
He hadn’t expected his attacker to be Suzy, the once–obscure woman who had now risen to the role of Harlow Corporation’s CEO.
Victor sized her up. “I had no idea you could fight.”
