Chapter 10
The system helped her cross the ocean to another country and gave her a tavern in a seaside town.
She got a brand–new name, Ann Yale.
She hoped the name would give her the courage to reconcile herself to her new surroundings. Henceforth, her life would be full of contentment and tranquility,
In this seaside town, she sold wine while enjoying her freedom. It was the life she had longed for.
On the other hand, Jeremy hurriedly bought the food Elsa wanted from Silverglade.
Fearing the food would get cold, despite his cleanliness obsession, he put it into his coat without
hesitation.
The moment he took the food out of his coat carefully, Elsa was moved to tears.
Jeremy lovingly ruffled her hair and gazed at her affectionately, saying, “Elsa, all I wish is your
happiness. In the future, if you want to eat it again, I will invite the cook back specifically for you. Is that okay?”
Elsa’s eyes were filled with tears as she nodded and then wanted to rest her head on Jeremy’s
shoulder.
Surprisingly, this time, Jeremy dodged. Elsa saw through him, but she didn’t speak it out. She smiled lightly and said, “Jeremy, I’m scared of being alone in the hospital. Can you stay here with
me?”
Jeremy had wanted to refuse, but he changed his mind after thinking that tomorrow would be his wedding day with Vera. After marriage, he certainly wouldn’t spend as much time with Elsa as he did now. So, he decided to stay here with her for the last night.
He sat quietly by Elsa’s bedside, watching her peaceful sleeping appearance.
He thought, “Elsa, in this lifetime, all I want is for you to be safe and healthy. Even if the person who stays by your side in the end is not me, I don’t mind.”
Jeremy left the hospital at dawn.
It was his wedding day with Vera, and he had to go early to prepare.
The wedding would be held at the largest hotel in Blossomburgh. As a highly anticipated wedding, it attracted almost every celebrity from inside and outside the industry, who eagerly waited to be
witnesses to the event.
Preparations and rehearsals for the wedding went smoothly. Just as the wedding was about to

begin, however, a backstage staff member hurried up to Jeremy and whispered to him.
Those below the stage could not hear the conversation between them, but they could see Jeremy’s smile suddenly freeze, and then his expression grew increasingly unpleasant.
He waved off the staff member and walked off stage while trying his best to keep his composure.
“Mr. Fawcett, the wedding is about to start, but the bride still hasn’t shown up. I contacted the makeup artist, and she said she hadn’t seen the bride either. Can you please ask and see if something happened?”
Recalling what the staff member had just said, Jeremy felt his heart sank. The lingering sense of uneasiness, which had begun yesterday, grew stronger and made him feel as if he could not
breathe.
Without much time to think, he took out his phone and skillfully dialed a number that he had long memorized. After dialing, there was only a busy tone ringing at the other end. No one answered.
Just as he was anxious and at a loss, he saw his assistant running in with sweat pouring down his face. He was so nervous that he could hardly speak clearly.
“Mr. Fawcett, Mrs. Fawcett… has arrived.”
Upon hearing this, Jeremy no longer frowned. He knew that Vera would not go missing on such an important day. How could she, who loved him so well, bear to be absent from the wedding?
As he thought, he took the bouquet in his hand and walked toward the door.
Yet when he saw the scene before him, he stood still, as if he had been struck by a heavy blow. He felt dizzy as if he was in an ice cave.
